Democrat AGs Targeted Pro-Lifers on Planned Parenthood’s Orders

Planned Parenthood said, ‘Jump.’ Democrat attorneys general asked, ‘How high?’

A newly released memo shows that weeks after the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, Planned Parenthood issued marching orders to Democratic attorneys general on how they should respond.

Unsurprisingly, they all fell in line.

The July 12, 2022, memo, first obtained by the Daily Signal, listed ways the Democrats could take action to increase abortion access “for all patients seeking abortion care—regardless of state residency.”

Recommended “solutions” included informing the public about pro-life pregnancy centers’ “misleading and deceptive practices” and wielding “all state laws, including state FACE Acts” against pro-lifers demonstrating outside of abortion clinics. Also on the list: removing “any existing restrictions” on abortion—including requirements for parental consent or a licensed physician’s involvement—and advising the public about “the safety and accessibility” of the abortion pill, mifepristone.

How We Got Here

  • In 1973, the Supreme Court fashioned a national right to abortion out of thin air in deciding Roe v. Wade. The court corrected that grievous error on June 24, 2022, once again allowing states to regulate abortion for themselves.
  • Immediately, states began passing laws to protect—or further oppress—their defenseless unborn residents, and blue states, aided by a friendly Biden administration, began cracking down on pro-life demonstrators and crisis pregnancy centers.
  • Nearly two dozen pro-lifers—some of them grandmothers—were prosecuted under the Federal Access to Clinic Entrances (FACE) Act. President Donald Trump pardoned them all just days after returning to the White House.
  • In October 2023, 16 Democratic attorneys general signed an open letter accusing crisis pregnancy centers of “misleading consumers and delaying access to critical, time-sensitive reproductive healthcare.”
  • California Attorney General Rob Bonta, who led that letter, also sued Heartbeat International and Real Options Women’s Clinic in his state for promoting abortion pill reversal, a treatment with demonstrated success in reversing the effects of mifepristone. Meanwhile, former New Jersey Attorney General Matt Platkin subpoenaed the private donor list of faith-based First Choice Women’s Centers in his state. Earlier this year, the Supreme Court unanimously sided with First Choice, allowing their challenge of the subpoena to move forward.

Why It Matters

  • Since Roe’s demise, Democrat leaders have treated pro-life advocates and organizations like terrorists. Now, we know why—because Democratic megadonor Planned Parenthood told them to.
  • Democrats cry “misinformation” over the promotion of abortion pill reversal as they continue to distort the facts about the pill’s safety. Groundbreaking research by the Restoration of America Foundation found that more than one in 10 women who ingest mifepristone for an abortion experience serious complications, ranging from sepsis and bacterial infections to uterine rupture and even death. Yet instead of sounding the alarm or even just calling for more research, Democrats downplay the largest study of mifepristone ever conducted.
  • Coerced abortions are also on the rise, thanks to the Biden administration’s deregulation of mifepristone. Women are being poisoned against their knowledge or will, and their babies are being murdered, all because abortion drugs are now widely available online.
