VIRGINIA: Abigail Spanberger Doubles Down on Restricting Gun Rights If Elected
Following a fatal shooting of three young individuals in her former congressional district, Democrat gubernatorial candidate Abigail Spanberger once again pledged to implement restrictive firearm laws if elected in November.
Democrat Abigail Spanberger leaves no room for doubt—she's gunning for your Second Amendment rights. Her recent remarks at an Everytown for Gun Safety rally only doubled down on her plans to restrict, and virtually abolish, gun ownership if she wins Virginia's crucial gubernatorial election this November. That's in stark contrast to her opponent, Republican Lt. Gov. Winsome Sears, a staunch gun rights advocate.
On April 9, four teenagers were arrested in connection with a shooting that left three people dead in the Spotsylvania, Virginia area—and Spanberger cynically pounced on the grim tragedy to attack responsible gun ownership.
"I will sign legislation into law to make progress on these issues to keep Virginia families safe," she said at the rally. "I will not veto common-sense proposals like our current governor has done."
Over the last four years, Republican Gov. Glenn Youngkin and Lt. Gov. Winsome Sears have been the shield gun owners need to protect their Second Amendment rights from California-style Democrats like Spanberger. Democrats control both the Senate and the House of Delegates—which is also up for election this year—making this race absolutely crucial for gun owners to turn out and vote for Sears.
During his term, Youngkin has vetoed 54 gun control bills sent to his desk by radical Democrats. If the roles were reversed, the story would be much different—after all, Spanberger has already signaled that she would sign all of those gun control bills sent to her desk.

If they'd had a blue trifecta, Democrats would have already banned so-called "assault weapons" and certain large-capacity magazines (HB 1607) and outlawed hair triggers, binary triggers, and various other modifications used in competitive and professional shooting (HB 1660).
Only simple bolt action and single fire rifles would be left on the shelves… for now.
Any visitors who entered into Virginia would not be able to conceal carry if they are licensed in states that have less restrictive gun laws (HB 1797)—even if they could carry, sensitive location restrictions would make concealed carry almost impossible outside of one's own home (HB 1977).
The expanded sensitive locations would also include any hospital or mental health facility.
But the list doesn’t end there, numerous other bills target gun manufacturers, the age to purchase, red flag laws, and heightened restrictions or firearm transfer.
"I swore an oath to defend the Constitution of the United States of America and the Constitution of Virginia, and that absolutely includes protecting the right of law-abiding Virginians to keep and bear arms," said Gov. Youngkin.
Republican gubernatorial front runner and current Lt. Gov. Winsome Sears carries the same desire to defend the Second Amendment as Youngkin. Virginians must ensure she is elected to protect Virginia's constitutional rights.
