Under Democrats, Murder, Arson, and Human Trafficking are Skyrocketing in Pennsylvania

Crime stats show the consequences of the Left’s soft-on-crime policies

With crime on the rise almost everywhere, you’d think big cities would demand more cops to keep their streets safe. Then again, you’d be wrong.

Philadelphia’s Democrat-led city council slashed $33 million from the police budget in June 2020, one month after the death of fentanyl addict and criminal George Floyd died in Minneapolis police custody, sparking a wave of far-left riots that burned down many of America’s biggest cities. Three years later, Philly mayoral candidates vied for votes on a re-fund the police platform while pretending they didn’t vote to gut the police budget in the first place.

How times change.

Crime statistics show that, compared with 2019 levels, murder dramatically rose by 52 percent in 2022. Car theft jacked up a stunning 71 percent from 2019–22, then rose again by 60 percent from 2022–23.Arson arrests also increased 26 percent over that period.

And perhaps most disturbing of all, human trafficking cases rose by more than 10,000 percent from 2019–22. Prior to 2020, Pennsylvania cops arrested exactly 1 person for human trafficking in the decade from 2009 to 2019.

But since 2020, they’ve arrested 333 individuals on human trafficking charges—87 percent of them since Kamala Harris and Joe Biden took office in Jan. 2021 and opened up the southern border. Since then, at least 12 million illegal aliens have poured into our country, many of them unaccompanied children.

Disturbingly, thousands of these children have gone missing on Kamala Harris’ watch—and no one knows where they are. But we fear the worst. One group estimates that 60 percent of unaccompanied children are caught and exploited for child pornography or drug trafficking by Mexican cartels.

Not surprisingly, the vast majority of those trafficked are immigrants, most of them here illegally, and the bulk of them women and children.

Pennsylvania ranked 9th-worst in the nation for reported human trafficking cases in a 2022 report. But neighboring New York, New Jersey, and Washington, D.C. together rank as the capital for trafficking victims across the United States.

This isn’t a new problem; but under Harris, it’s ballooned into a national epidemic. Left unchecked, it will only get worse, bringing with it more crime to Pennsylvania’s streets. Just think what another four years of Democrat chaos in the White House will bring.
