The Fauci Cult: 1,000 Pages of Ego, Awards, and Alleged Cover-Ups

While Americans suffered, Fauci's diary shows the nation's primary pandemic response official tracking his own celebrity and trying to control the narrative.

He should have been the nation's calm, trusted voice through a pandemic. Instead, newly unsealed diary entries and government documents suggest Dr. Anthony Fauci spent much of that time preoccupied with his own fame. All while allegedly working behind the scenes to bury evidence about where the virus that nearly destroyed America actually came from.

Fauci served as the Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) for 38 years—an entrenched bureaucrat. He used his influence to provide grants to Peter Daszak’s EcoHealth Alliance for SARS research in China. Daszak partnered with the Wuhan lab where it is believed COVID originated.

On his website, Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) has released emails related to the origins of COVID. Sen. Paul also released Dr. Fauci's personal diary. As a medical doctor himself, Paul has led the charge to investigate Fauci's involvement in COVID and the worldwide response to the pandemic. 'Not only has Sen. Paul worked to expose Fauci, but the head of U.S. intelligence dropped her own bombshells.

On her last days in office, Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard exposed how Fauci gave millions of taxpayer dollars for dangerous biological weapons research also known as "gain of function" at the Wuhan lab in China. These research techniques genetically alter an organism to strengthen it to give it new abilities and thus less susceptible to current treatments. This research was linked to big pharma's pursuit of trillions of dollars' worth of "universal vaccines."

Director Gabbard revealed that Fauci pushed the intelligence community to "endorse a natural, animal origin to hide his dangerous research." He then publicly "pushed lies, disinformation, and censorship," said Gabbard.

According to intelligence findings, Fauci retaliated against dissenters—anyone who showed disagreement with Fauci's manipulated findings would face derailed careers.

Fauci's Diary

Not only did Fauci allegedly fund and then cover up the origins of the COVID -19 pandemic, but his diary reveals him as an egotistical monster.

Fauci's writings during COVID read less like the private notes of a public health official and more like a celebrity scrapbook. Throughout the diary, he repeatedly documents his own celebrity status—noting calls from famous admirers, flattering headlines, and receiving the accolades of a hero—often in the same entries where he records rising case counts and death tolls.

Anthony Fauci himself refers to his admirers as "the Fauci Cult."

This was an 80-year-old man responsible for advising the president on how to keep the nation safe during a pandemic, not a reality TV star.

In mid-March 2020, around the time of escalating U.S. COVID cases and mitigation discussions, Fauci said, "For better or worse, I am becoming an international celebrity. Calls from all over the world."

In March 2021 he writes, "I should point out that I have been getting a number of awards and prizes that I had not even documented in these notes. It is a shame that things are moving so quickly that I don't even have time to savor for a moment the many awards that I have been getting."

In June 2021 Fauci equates himself with war heroes: "As a bit of background, Mayor Bill Di Blasio of New York City had invited me to be the Grand Marshal of the parade of heroes for the 4th of July weekend in New York City. It would be similar to the ticket tape parades that honored returning war generals."

Restoration News combed through the 1,000 pages of Fauci's diary for entries that reveal his self-obsession and his efforts to control the national narrative.

The Diary Speaks for Itself

Jan. 26, 2020: Fauci wrote, "GAME ON!!!"

Jan. 29, 2020: He writes, "Amazing day today!" Then described Nancy Pelosi hugging and kissing him and telling everyone how great he was. He relayed how Trump came into the meeting and asked him a lot of questions and said, "Thanks, again, Anthony. We are counting on you."

Jan. 30, 2020: "All my friends kept saying I was a national hero" and they "felt safe in my arms."

Jan. 31, 2020: "Another truly amazing day." Worked on proposal to restrict travel from China. Cases "continue to sharply rise with 12000 cases and 259 deaths." He bragged about the White House being "fully convinced that I be the science/health spokesperson" for the U.S. Government, claiming "Bob Redfield just does not come across very weel (sic)." This was the same day he records that he got a call from Jeremy Farrar and Kristian Anderson that the virus could have been released from the Wuhan lab.

Feb. 1, 2020: Fauci recalls a meeting with a variety of scientists outside the government. A majority of the twelve people on the call agreed that manipulation of the coronavirus in the lab to "allow adaptation of the spike protein to bind to the human ACE2 receptor" was a possibility. Yet, throughout the pandemic he promoted the narrative of a natural origin as the cause.

Mar. 21, 2020: "Big front page article about me appeared in the Washington Post. Very flattering. The situation with my national and international fame is explosive and really unimaginable. It is not hyperbole to say that today I am the most famous and talked about person in the country and one of the most recognizable persons in the world. Countless profiles on me in multiple media. I cannot even read all the things that are written about me since I am so busy….seriously. POTUS seems to be enamored of me even though I am taking the spotlight away from him. We are developing a very unique and interesting relationship. The entire secret service corps is coming over to me and chatting. They let me into the first gate without even checking ID. Everyone is worried about my health and welfare, probably because it is all over the place that I am almost 80 years old."

Apr. 1, 2020: "Had good conversation with Bill Gates tonight who wants the BMGF [Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation] to partner with me (NIAID) and BARDA [Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority] in the advanced development and scaleup of vaccines, therapeutics."

Apr. 4, 2020: Fauci documents a meeting he had at the Oval Office where Trump discussed wanting to permit Easter services and Fauci pushed back saying, "Hope Hicks and I convinced him to essentially put Easter on hold for this year. Then he went on and on (almost pleading) with Me (mostly) and Deb [Deborah Birx] saying that he cannot keep the country closed beyond the 30-day extension."

Apr. 15, 2020: "Phone call with Bill Gates and Trevor Mundel regarding working together on vaccines and therapeutics. Bill, like I, is very skeptical about serologic tests – could be misleading is saying that someone is protective if Ab is positive. He is concerned as I am."

Apr. 21, 2020: "Received call from Dionne Warwick who received an e-mail from a friend asking whether vaccines developed for dog corna (sic) virus could help with vaccine development for SARS-CoV-19. Not a stupid question."

Apr. 22, 2020: "I have been calling Chris Cuomo on his cell (he is sick at home with COVID-19) every night (usually after 10:00 PM when his show ends) for the past 2 weeks. His fever lingers and his wife Christina and son Mario are both infected, less severe than he. They both have loss of taste and smell and sinusitis."

Apr. 30, 2020: "Did a Zoom call with a whole host of movie stars and athletes organizef (sic) by Kim Kardashian:" then he lists 34 celebrities' names.

May 12, 2020: "Received 2 packages of cookies from Joe and Jill Biden with note: 'You are our hero. Stay strong and healthy. We need you'."

May 13, 2020: "Had a wonderful Instagram discussion organized by the ONE Campaign with Julia Roberts. She was absolutely fabulous. She embarrassed me somewhat when I sat down in the chair and appeared on the screen through Zoom, she put her hands in front of her mouth and said 'Oh my God. It's Dr. Fauci, he is here.' Then she went on to say that I was he [sic] personal hero and how happy she was to have this conversation with me."

May 20, 2020: Fauci writes: "The Fauci craze continues. Some select examples: . . ." then he proceeds to include an article about a photo of himself that sold for $15,000 and a picture of him on the front of the New Yorker.

May 20, 2020: "On Conference call with the OWS group, it is clear that Jared Kushner is inverting (sic) himself in the process of decisions about vaccines, therapeutics and diagnostics that disturbs me. Also, I am concerned that Jared said that after 1 hour and 45 minutes of discussion, Jared said that we need to run this by Deb Birx. I have a bad feeling about this."

July 9, 2020: "Bob Redfield defending the fact that Trump forced CDC to change guidelines that Trump felt was too strict to open the schools. Bob is losing a lot of credibility. Trump wants to open the schools at all costs. Clearly he does not care about the safety of the children."

Aug. 8, 2020: Fauci documented a Washington Post article titled, "As Fauci battles the pandemic and politics, his grateful neighbors celebrate him as a hero."

Aug. 13, 2020: He wrote "the Fauci cult is getting even stronger." Then he shared a conversation he had with Irwin Redlener, "Irwin Redlener called me. He is a friend of Joan Baez and said that Joan is now an accomplished portrait artist and she is a great admirer of mine and has painted a portrait of me. Irwin wanted to know if it was OK for him to give Joan my cell phone number. I said of course and within an hour Joan called me and we had a wonderful conversation with her calling me an American hero. She texted a copy of the portrait to me. I gave her my home address and she will send me a print of it."

Aug. 15, 2020: Fauci wrote "The Fauci cult continues:" then posted an article titled "Fauci Bobblehead Raises $200k for Healthcare Workers." He then writes, "The problem is that now I am one of the most recognizable and well-known people in the world. This is very strange; however, it is triggering increased hate mail and threats. My security detail (Brett Rowland, Andre Jacobs, Mike Salva, Ken are getting more careful and concerned."

Aug. 18, 2020: Fauci writes, "I continue to be kept out of the classic press but am getting in through indirect ways." He then complains that Trump is now listening to Atlas and not him. Then he brags about his fandom, "Joan Baez texted me saying that she now has 3,000,000 views on her Face Book note to me. Her comment was: 'Over three million views. Is this fun or what?'"

Nov. 10, 2020: "Country still on fire and getting worse. 122,000 cases yesterday." Then in the same entry he brags that "I received virtually a citation from Eric Adams Borough President of Brooklyn at a ceremony on the steps of Borough Hall. It was called COVID Heroes. The other heroes cheered me on during my acceptance speech."

Dec 22, 2020: Writes "Hospitalization at 118,000 – record for the pandemic. East and West coasts now surging." Then he immediately posts a photo of an ABC news twitter post that shows a photo of someone wearing a Dr. Fauci sweatshirt and brags that "Slate ranked me the #1 most influential 80-year-old and older person" then includes a copy of the article.

Mar. 15, 2021: bragged about receiving "the Ivan Alan Award for Social Courage" and said, "There was a video about my accomplishments and Rochelle Walensky joined us to celebrate the award. Rochelle was very generous in calling me her hero, her mentor, and her friend. I should point out at this point that Rochelle has become closer and closer to me in our very collegial relationship. In addition, I should point out that I have been getting a number of awards and prizes that I had not even documented in these notes. It is a shame that things are moving so quickly that I don't even have time to savor for a moment the many awards that I have been getting."

May 20, 2021: Posts about himself: "Terrific profile of me in Time Magazine." Then includes the link. He also highlights an article titled "Jill Biden calls Dr. Fauci 'our American hero' during visit to D.C. children's hospital after he said Americans should NOT completely ditch masks."

Aug. 25, 2025: Fauci logged a tweet from Bill Gates that said, "Tony, you were an amazing public servant long before COVID-19 struck – and now you are a hero to millions of people, including me."

Diary Entries Related to School Closures

Mar. 9, 2020: "Gov. Cuomo calls me up and asks my advice on whether to close schools in the orthodox Jewish section of Westchester where they have 90 cases (more than rest of NYC). I tell him yes. He also asks about closing subways. I tell him not yet, but let us stay tuned."

July 8, 2020: Fauci complained about the Dept of Ed pushing to open schools saying, "Clearly Trump is pushing to open the schools no matter what. There is concern about the safety of the children and teachers. Yet, Trump together with Redfield (being pressured) is saying that the CDC guidelines should not stand in the way of opening schools (what???). Glad that I am not involved in that discussion."

July 9, 2020: "Bob Redfield defending the fact that Trump forced CDC to change guidelines that Trump felt was too strict to open the schools. Bob is losing a lot of credibility. Trump wants to open the schools at all costs. Clearly he does not care about the safety of the children."

Aug. 12, 2020: Complains about Trump bringing in Scott Atlas as a member of the task force. Fauci says Atlas is "against everything we are saying. He wants to open schools in red zone, feels that children do not get sick (or even transmit when they get infected) and so we should let herd immunity form."

Nov. 30, 2020: "Got a call from Gov JB Pritzker (D-IL) praising me for what I have been doing and asking for my backing for him to keep stringent public health measures (short of lock down). He is getting pushback from bars and restaurants and even from hard core people who do not want to wear masks. He said that I am so credible and respected that he would like to quote what I have said as backup for himself. He liked my statement on Sunday shows of 'Close the bars; open the schools.' He is very frustrated with people not wearing masks and told me he would like to just say: 'Wear a fucking mask!'"

Dec. 12, 2020: Advocated for testing asymptomatic people "for the purposes of surveillance and screening such as in schools.”

Aug. 3, 2021: "An ironic situation is going on in Florida where Governor DeSantis has a state that has the most infections per day in the country and is still insisting that mask mandates are not allowed at the local level by the schools or by anyone else. In addition, he continues to raise money by slamming me with T shirts as well as by his slogan 'don't Fauci my Florida.' Besides being a total jerk, he is causing people to die in his home state."

Aug. 7, 2021: "Governor DeSantis is a complete disgrace. He is blocking the local authorities from mandating masks in various locations including schools." He then rants about people who criticize him like Rand Paul and Fox News and says, "I am convinced even more that this is part of the total dystopia going on in certain elements of the country and it is all linked to "The Big Lie" involving the election and the denial of January 6."

Note: in 2020, Florida's had a significantly lower death rate than blue states like New York. In 2021, despite having a much older population, Florida's COVID death rate only slightly exceeded that of California and Michigan, states that completely shut down.

Government Subversion

Sen. Paul's document disclosures reveal a long-term tight relationship between Dr. Fauci and the intelligence community. Fauci was looped into classified national security briefings for decades, back to at least 2003.

In 2021, the FBI investigated Peter Daszak, a scientist involved in biological weapons research. Documents reveal that in 2013, Daszak was involved in dangerous "gain of function" research at Wuhan Institute of Virology where he and collaborators "created a bat coronavirus capable of directly infecting humans." Daszak received funding through government grants and contracts to fund his research.

An article appeared in the scientific journal Nature on December 12, 2015: "Engineered bat virus stirs debate over risky research, Lab-made coronavirus related to SARS can infect human cells." The article asked, "whether engineering lab variants of viruses with possible pandemic potential is worth the risks."

In January 2021, Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) directed agents to inspect Daszak on his future trips to and from China, over significant concerns he could bring "original type-specimen used by WIV [Wuhan Institute of Virology] for genetic analysis." Suddenly in early February just before a planned trip back from China, the FBI told CBP to stand down and not inspect Daszak.

In April 2025, Sen. Rand Paul asked the Department of Justice (DOJ) to open an inquiry to find out if Daszak and another scientist were informants of the FBI or DOJ component.

Paul also reveals on his website that the National Institutes of Health (NIH) purposefully manipulated and suppressed public comments on their social media pages that criticized Fauci and the NIH. Even their own government attorneys warned against these First Amendment violations, but that didn't stop them from controlling the narrative.

New messages obtained by Sen. Paul show scientists who initially claimed a lab leak was not plausible as the proximal origin of COVID backtracked just a few months later, admitting a lab leak was more than possible. Yet, they stuck with the initial narrative that it couldn't have come from the lab. New evidence shows these proximal-origin scientists tried to cover up that knowledge. They even discussed the need to "stay off email" or "carefully curate some emails for the FOI [Freedom of Information] records."

The U.S. Government intercepted biological materials related to the COVID spike protein being brought into the U.S. by couriers affiliated with China's Academy of Military Medical Sciences. In 2018, Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) intercepted biological materials "tied to a network of American and Chinese coronavirus researchers centered on the University of Minnesota lab of virologist Fang Li."

What emerges from these documents is not the story of a humble public servant, but of a man who chronicled his own celebrity in real time while the country suffered. As Sen. Paul continues releasing records, the American public may finally get the full accounting of the Fauci era that it was denied for so long. Americans can only hope that justice will follow.
