Ruben Gallego is Not Fit to Serve in a Democracy
The Democrat running for U.S. Senate wants to seize power from the people of Arizona and give it to D.C. bureaucrats
Judging from his hard-left voting record, Ruben Gallego has a message for Americans who might be inclined to think for themselves that goes something like this: “Pay your protection money, do the secret handshake, and kiss the ring—or else.”
Like the rest of the Democrats in Congress, Gallego’s voted to impose censorship and surveillance schemes that will target anyone who has the temerity to dissent from his “progressive,” big government agenda. Gallego’s track record demonstrates he’s also willing to double down on government regulations limiting consumer choice and the parents’ right to a say in their children’s education.

Gallego Favors Censorship, Other Extreme Positions
In March 2023, the congressman came down squarely on the side of muzzling political dissent when voting against a bill that would prevent federal employees from censoring the speech of others while operating in an official capacity. This would mean, for example, that bureaucrats within President Biden’s administration could not silence citizens who differ with the administration’s views on climate change. Gallego’s perfidy did not end here. Just a little more than a year later, he voted against another bill that would expand on prohibited disclosures of stored electronic communications. Essentially, this legislation would prevent the feds from seizing private cell phone and email correspondence who might be critical of government policies without a court order
As for education, Gallego is a sworn enemy of parents who want to a voice in their kids’ schools. In March 2023, Gallego voted down a “Parents Bill of Rights that created incentives for local educational institutions to safeguard the role of parents. The bill would empower parents with the ability review curriculum and direct school officials to obtain parental consent on matters involving a child’s gender identify and child’s use of pronouns. Put simply, school officials could not coerce a transgender identity without parents becoming privy to that agenda.
But Gallego insists on a top-down approach to education with bureaucrats in Washington, D.C. calling the shots—hence his vote in July 2015 against a bill that would expand state and local authority over public education.
But it’s not just parents who stand to lose out if Gallego is not defeated in November.
Own any kitchen appliances? You’re in Gallego’s sights. In June 2023, he voted against legislation prohibiting bureaucrats from regulating gas stoves like those in millions of households across the country. In other words, he’s helping climate activists in the Biden administration with their project to ban gas stoves nationwide. That same month Gallego also voted against a measure limiting “energy conservation standards” for kitchen ranges or ovens. What does this all mean in practice? If Team Biden has its way, it could take longer to cook a Turkey, or prepare bacon, eggs, and toast for breakfast than it did in the 18th century.
Consistently In Favor of Big Government
If he prevails in November, Gallego, as an incoming U.S. senator, would almost certainly look for new opportunities to remove any restraints on the federal government’s ability to micromanage Americans. In fact, the long-standing American principle articulated by Thomas Jefferson that “the government closes to the people serves the people best” would have no place in Gallego’s office—be it in the House or Senate.
Anyone expecting to return the issue of abortion to the states on the U.S. Supreme Court ruling overturning Roe v. Wade, for instance, can expect to lose out if Gallego is in charge. The idea that the public, and their elected representatives should be able extend protections for innocent, human life is alien to his thinking.
In July 2022, Gallego voted to prohibit state and local governments from restricting access to abortion services. That same month, he also voted to prohibit anyone acting under state law from interfering with an individual’s ability to access out-of-state abortion services. But if nothing else, Gallego is consistent.
When it comes to matters of life and death, only the federal government knows best, in his estimation. In May 2018, Gallego voted against a bill that would enable to terminally ill patients to use non-FDA approved drugs after exhausting other options.
Polls show that he is in a tight race with Kari Lake, a former television news anchor running as a Republican. Since Gallego is so gung-ho on concentrating power in Washington, D.C., she might want to ask him he would feel about a federal ban on all abortions. If he doesn’t pass the shoe on the other foot test, then it’s only fair to ask the would-be U.S. senator if he might be willing to revisit his previous policy stances devolving power back to the states in true federalist fashion.
