Republicans Hold Surprising Polling Lead Heading into Midterm Elections

American voters have no faith in the Democrats to solve any of our biggest problems.

With just 100 days until Election Day, when control of the U.S. House and Senate will be decided, the Republican Party has taken a surprising lead in public opinion polling this week. The Democrats had led on all major issues of importance to the voters, but the GOP has reversed those gains, surging into the lead.

The biggest surprise? Voters trust Republicans more on properly handling Iran than the Democrats. The lurch to the Left caused by the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) has left voters behind. American voters are just not buying what the Democrats are selling.

How We Got Here

  • As recently as April, polling showed voters favoring Democrats by two points (32 percent) over Republicans (30 percent) on the issue of Iran. (22 percent said Neither.)
  • A July poll reveals those numbers completely flipped: Voters now trust President Trump more—32 percent for Trump vs. 30 percent for Democrats. (22 percent still said Neither.)
  • According to CNN, Democrats have historic unpopularity numbers. The Net Approval rating stands at negative-39 as of July 24.

Why It Matters

  • Iran is not dragging down the president's approval. Many pundits thought if the conflict in Iran dragged on beyond a couple of months, it would hurt Donald Trump and the Republicans in the midterm elections.
  • Gas prices have stabilized. Despite the uncertain status of the Straits of Hormuz, gas prices have stabilized, putting Republicans in a better position. Prices have still gotten nowhere close to the highs we experienced under Biden and Obama.
  • Control of the House and Senate will be on the ballot. The results of the election will determine whether President Trump's agenda continues to progress, or whether the radical leftists will get their wish and impeach him.
  • The Democrats are not nearly as strong as they think. Their blind opposition to the Trump agenda, their lurch towards the DSA and collectivism, and their inability to provide real solutions to real Americans hold no attraction for most voters. As more Americans realize what they're selling, the polling numbers are starting to show that.

The Bottom Line

The Democratic Party won't admit that their opposition to President Trump and the America First agenda has failed. Their lurch to the left and embrace of the DSA has also failed. The party of the sitting president may not lose as many seats in Congress in the midterm elections as originally thought.
