President Trump's Immigration Enforcement Agency Continues Deportations of Dangerous Illegal Aliens
Feds remove gang members convicted of attempted murder, drunk driving, burglary, and more.
President Donald Trump's Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency deported more violent criminals last week who entered the country illegally. The accelerated pace of deportations makes good on the president's commitment to strictly enforce federal immigration laws.
The national security initiatives that began with sealing the border in 2025 have continued with successful efforts to arrest, detain, and deport illegal aliens gang members in 2026. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) reported on the most recent list of deportees last week.
That list includes:
Eddy Ely Lopez, a Mexican member of Surenos gang who was deported on August 12. Lopez has convictions for attempted murder, use of a firearm in commission of a felony, criminal street gang activity, and possession of drugs in prison.
Marco Obdulio Sarmiento Crispin, an MS-13 gang member from Guatemala who was deported on August 12. Crispin's criminal history includes arrests for homicide, drug possession, and vehicle theft.
Candelario Gomez-Vasquez, a Mexican criminal illegal alien and a Paisas gang member, was deported on August 16. Gomez-Vasquez has convictions for drunk driving, robbery, resisting an officer, and illegal re-entry, along with arrests for cocaine possession and burglary.
Julian Patino Espinoza, a criminal illegal alien from Mexico and Crips gang member, was deported on August 10. Espinoza has convictions for burglary, larceny, and illegal re-entry, and arrests for drunk driving, drug possession, and possession of burglary tools.
Cristian Adonay Melgar-Cermeno, a criminal illegal alien from Guatemela and Latin Kings gang member was deported on August 13. Melgar-Ceremo's criminal history includes convictions for driving under the influence of liquor, burglary, and obstructing police.
How We Fix It
- During the 2024 presidential campaign, Donald Trump made several commitments to close the border, end "catch and release" practices, and expel illegal alien gang members. He has kept all those promises.
- Ending taxpayer support for illegal aliens removes the incentives for illegal entries. The Trump administration ended food stamps for illegal immigrants and clawed back tens of millions paid to house illegal aliens in luxury New York City Hotels.
- Expand on the existing 287(g) program that enables ICE to partner with local and state officials for the purpose of enforcing federal immigration laws.
Why It Matters
- Violent crime has plunged to historic laws under President Trump's leadership. Tighter border security and aggressive deportation practices have contributed to this decline.
- The border crisis that erupted under President Joe Biden led to increased criminal activities and avoidable deaths of legal American citizens. These legal citizens could be alive today if federal immigration laws had been forced during Biden's term.
