Planned Parenthood Takes Another Hit for Deceiving Women About Abortion Pills
Missouri's attorney general is suing the nation's largest 'death factory' for allegedly misleading women about the health risks of mifepristone.
Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey is once again taking on Big Abortion, this time with a lawsuit charging Planned Parenthood Federation of America with lying to women about the dangers of the abortion drug mifepristone.
The lawsuit, which Bailey's office announced on July 23, accuses the abortion giant of misleading patients by downplaying the health and safety risks of chemical abortion to cut costs and increase revenue.
"The national Planned Parenthood organization is actively endangering the lives of women and girls across the country by spreading lies and disinformation about the powerful chemical abortion drug," Bailey said in a press statement.

Protecting Women from Planned Parenthood
"The facts are clear,” Bailey continued. "More than 4.5 percent of women who take this dangerous drug end up in the emergency room, yet Planned Parenthood compares it to Tylenol. This is a blatant violation of Missouri law, and I will not allow a death factory to lie to Missouri women in pursuit of its radical agenda."
Bailey's office also leads another lawsuit seeking to revoke the U.S. Food and Drug Administration's approval of mifepristone.
The latest challenge comes on the heels of the Foundation for the Restoration of America's report finding that roughly 11 percent of women experience at least one serious adverse event after taking mifepristone—a rate 22 times higher than the FDA claims.
That's alarming considering that 63 percent of U.S. abortions are drug-induced, according to the pro-abortion Guttmacher Institute.
Meanwhile, a recent peer-reviewed article from the Charlotte Lozier Institute debunked Planned Parenthood's lie that mifepristone is "safer than many other medicines like penicillin, Tylenol, and Viagra."
The truth: No legitimate head-to-head study has ever been conducted to verify that abortion drugs are safer than Tylenol, and it would be impossible to do so as the drugs have entirely different uses.
"The lies must stop," Bailey said. "We're holding the national Planned Parenthood entity accountable for the lies it tells women in Missouri and across the nation. No one is above the law, not even Planned Parenthood."
Big Abortion Has Had a Rough Year
After the Trump administration froze millions in Title X grant funding that was destined for several Planned Parenthood affiliates in March, the Supreme Court ruled in June that South Carolina could kick the organization off its Medicaid plan, clearing the way for other states to do the same.
Meanwhile, on Capitol Hill, federal lawmakers chose to strip the organization and other major abortion providers of their Medicaid funding for one year. While a radical judge in Massachusetts stepped in to temporarily block that move, her decision—decried by many as blatant judicial overreach—is likely to be reversed on appeal.
Now, Bailey's lawsuit adds another financial strain to the list.
Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America President Marjorie Dannenfelser praised the Republican attorney general for "showing real courage" and holding Planned Parenthood to account.
"Women deserve to know the truth about the real risks of abortion drugs," Dannenfelser said in a press statement. "Planned Parenthood has been lying to women for years, putting profits over people. This is medical negligence disguised as health care. Women are ending up in emergency rooms, and some are losing their lives—all so the abortion industry can make a buck."
Planned Parenthood has warned that its funding woes have put 200 of its clinics at risk for closure.
Two hundred fewer abortion clinics might be a loss for Planned Parenthood, but it would certainly be a win for women and babies.
