Whether They’re Eating Pets or Not, Thousands of Haitians are Here Illegally—Despite the Left’s Lies
Kamala Harris and Joe Biden have been steadily importing people from failed countries since 2021 under a sneaky and little-known parole program.
For millions of Americans, especially those under 30, the one part of the September presidential debate they remember was the skirmish over 20,000 Haitian migrants stealing and eating animals in Springfield, Ohio, a town of just 60,000 people. “They’re eating the dogs, the people that came in, they’re eating the cats,” Trump said, and thus a million memes were born, to the Left’s chagrin.
Whether you believe that claim or not, the Haitians in question are not in the country legally, as so many on the Left claim. Instead, they were imported in huge numbers—as much as 30,000 people per month—by the Harris-Biden regime under a loophole program that essentially makes them—and hundreds of thousands of Cubans, Venezuelans, Ukrainians, and Nicaraguans—legal illegal aliens. Here’s how that scheme works.

How Long is “Temporary”?
The scheme hinges on the Department of Homeland Security’s authority to import individuals by designating them “parolees.” That’s not the same as “asylum-seekers,” who are allowed to reside in the country until a U.S. court determines their eligibility for permanent asylum in the United States. Instead, these legal illegal aliens would be considered “by definition inadmissible” if they crossed into the country without the government’s help yet are helped inside anyway by executive fiat.
The program’s official name is Temporary Protected Status, but how long is “temporary?” According to Homeland Security, no longer than 24 months. Yet that means that the earliest Haitians’ Temporary Protected Status won’t expire until Jan. 2025, creating a back-door to eventually granting them amnesty under a Kamala Harris presidency.
Former Immigration and Customs Enforcement directors Tom Homan and John Fabbricatore believe it’s unlikely parolees will ever leave after that two-year window expires, short of a mass deportation.
Many or most of the countries targeted by this program—such as Venezuela—aren’t accepting return flights, while the United Nations and the leftist group Human Rights Watch are urging the U.S. government to stop deporting Haitians to Haiti. Experts similarly believe Nicaragua’s Communist regime is using hundreds of chartered flights carrying Haitian and Cuban refugees—“armed migration”—as “leverage” to gain “concessions” from the Biden administration.
“This is definitely a concrete example of weaponizing migration as a foreign policy,” one explained.
In June, the Center for Immigration Studies released documents showing that under the parole program for Cubans, Haitians, Nicaraguans, and Venezuelans (CHNV) is in fact admitting inadmissible aliens from 73 other countries, including China, Egypt, Colombia, Many of these are safe countries that should not be eligible for Temporary Protected Status, such as Great Britain and Japan. Yet they’re coming in anyway.
In total, the Harris-Biden regime was imported at least 460,000 people through this legal loophole since 2021.

Two of those destinations: Cincinnati and Columbus, Ohio, the latter just 45 miles from Springfield. The biggest targets are in Florida, New York, and Texas. But other key, underreported cities are located in swing states:
- Atlanta, Georgia
- Savannah, Georgia
- Charlotte, North Carolina
- Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina
- Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
- Detroit, Michigan
- Phoenix, Arizona
- Las Vegas, Nevada
Eating the pets? Maybe. But Kamala Harris’ open border policies are eating the country alive.
