Just 3 North Carolina Democrats Voted to Require Sheriffs to Report Illegal Aliens to ICE

Democrats are showing who their true constituents are, you’re not it

Only 3 Democrats joined all Republicans in North Carolina’s House of Representatives to vote for a recent bill that cracks down on sanctuary cities. 43 House Democrats voted against the bill. The state’s outgoing Democrat Governor, Roy Cooper, is also expected to veto the bill.

H.B. 10 requires North Carolina sheriffs to cooperate with U.S. Immigration & Customs Enforcement (ICE) by reporting the immigration status of individuals in custody to federal immigration authorities and holding them until ICE deports them.

In contrast, North Carolina’s 8 sanctuary counties—notably Wake, Durham, and Mecklenburg—are run by woke sheriffs who refuse to cooperate with ICE, even as those counties are overrun with illegal alien criminals.

Last week, Restoration News reported that North Carolina is the 4th-worst in the nation for illegal alien crimes—thanks to Kamala Harris’ open border policies, those still supported by Democrat gubernatorial candidate Josh Stein.

Stein, notably, has publicly stated multiple times “there are no sanctuary cities in North Carolina.” Elsewhere he’s denied that sanctuary jurisdictions even exist.

At the same time, crime in the Tar Heel State is out of control, with rape up 9 percent, arson up 10 percent, and murder up a stunning 40 percent since 2019. Yet Kamala Harris’ FBI relies on manipulated statistics to tell North Carolinians that crime is down statewide, even when the evidence is all around them. They got that fantastical figure by mixing minor infractions like petty theft with violent crimes, but it isn’t working.
