Virginia’s Teachers’ Union Mourns the Election Results in Email to Members

Radical teachers’ union wants tampons in boys’ bathrooms and grieves over Trump’s electoral victory.

The Virginia Education Association (VEA), Virginia’s largest teachers’ union, sent a post-election email to its members claiming many would need to grieve over the outcome. They called Trump an extremist and said, “they will come for us.” They don’t make it clear who “they” refer to, but one could assume they mean those who voted for Trump. The VEA’s message is clear—if you are an educator who voted against Trump, they stand with you in your mourning. And if you voted for Trump? You aren’t welcome.

Carol Bauer, the VEA President and author of the email, claims they will need to continue to reject MAGA in “next year’s election cycle when the State Senate, House of Delegates, and governorship are all on the line.” In case you need to know, Bauer’s pronouns as posted on X are she/her. You won’t find her associating with any Republicans. Her social media proves she is a far-left extremist. She fills it with anti-gun, pro-abortion, social justice messaging—and little about actual academics.

State elections filings reveal the VEA donates exclusively to Democrats. $212,716, to be precise, to Democrat candidates from 2022-2024 and $0 to Republicans. It appears this tax-exempt organization operates as a partisan arm of the Democrat party. Republicans need not apply.

Virginians will never forget the VEA fought hard to keep children out of classrooms during the COVID lockdown. Students continue to suffer the consequences of that learning loss. Virginia students’ test scores declined in math and reading more than the national average. Additionally, it has been more difficult to recruit teachers since the “pandemic” school closures, worsening the teacher shortage in Virginia.

 Tampons in Boys’ Bathrooms

The VEA’s email instructed teachers, “Your students and communities will need you to be strong in the coming days and weeks.” VEA President Bauer continued by providing a resource link to “helpful organizations” that teachers can use, which leads to the U.S. trans lifeline, LGBT National Help Center, and the Trevor Project. The VEA has gone well beyond their mission of advocating for workers to promoting a radical agenda focused on sexuality and the transgender agenda.

The VEA has an “LGBTQ+ Toolkit” that discusses the importance of putting tampons in boys bathrooms to be “gender-inclusive.” They also instruct teachers how to use gender-neutral language and advocate for boys to use girls’ restrooms and locker rooms.

The privileged access teachers’ unions receive in public schools must end.

Each state affiliate of the National Education Association (NEA) has local branches. For example, in Loudoun County, Virginia they have the Loudoun Education Association (LEA). These local union branches often receive benefits within school divisions. They get influential positions on school board committees as well as direct access to communicate with teachers in schools. Some districts advertise union membership opportunities on school district websites and provide the ability to deduct dues from paychecks—essentially providing free marketing to the unions at taxpayer expense.

Julie Perry, a teacher in Fairfax public schools, said she used to pay monthly dues to the union. Then she “realized that they were taking those monthly dues and spending them on Democrat politicians and a leftist curriculum.” Perry left the VEA and isn’t afraid to take a stand for what is best for students. She ran for state senate on a platform of eliminating the Democrat woke agenda.

Taxpayers should demand that school districts stop providing benefits and unprecedented access to these partisan teachers’ unions in schools. Their tax-exempt status implies they are not a political entity. Their activities reveal exclusive advocacy for only one political party. It’s time to defund teachers’ unions.
