Violent History of Criminal Illegal Aliens in Jersey Ignored by Democrats and News Media

ICE presses ahead with enforcement partnerships despite sanctuary policies.

Congressional Democrats who have organized protests outside of a federal immigration detention center in New Jersey have not provided the public with any details about the violent nature of those who are incarcerated. They also have not commented on the taxpayer-funded benefits the illegal aliens have received.

But House and Senate members have leveled several accusations against the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency (ICE) and its Delaney Hall facility in Newark that do not square with the facts. They have also joined with Gov. Mikie Sherrill (D) to advance sanctuary policies that obstruct law enforcement efforts.

ICE has made a concerted effort to keep the public informed about its operations while also releasing detailed information about the criminal history of detained illegal aliens. But there appears to be a media blackout imposed against any coverage of successful law enforcement efforts.

Most recently, for instance, ICE arrested two illegal aliens in New Jersey as part of a nationwide effort to root out fraudulent commercial driver’s license (CDL) activity. ICE arrested Zokhid Zakhidov, 37, in Woodbridge and Khayrullo Payzullaev, 30, in Hamilton on August 23. Both men are Uzbek citizens. Both men are, moreover, a menace to public safety.

Zakhido possessed a New York commercial learner permit when he was arrested. He has been convicted for driving while intoxicated and has pending charges for “assault with intent to cause physical injury and harassment,” according to an ICE press release. Payzullaev held a “non-domiciled Pennsylvania commercial driver’s license” when he was arrested, the release said.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the Department of Transportation (DOT) formed a partnership in July for the purpose of cracking down on fraudulent and illegal practices in CDL schools. This is precisely the kind of cooperative effort between government agencies that Sherrill and other Democrats have opposed in blue states. In March, Sherrill signed a bill that prevents state and local authorities from participating in the 287(g) program, which enables local officials to enforce federal immigration laws. New Jersey has never looked back.

In June, Attorney General Jennifer Davenport filed a lawsuit against the GEO Group Inc., which operates the Delaney Hall immigration detention center. The suit asks the court to allow the New Jersey Department of Health (DOH) access to the facility, which the attorney general claims “is the focus of well-documented concerns about inhumane and unsanitary conditions for detainees.” But is that true?

U.S. Sens. Cory Booker and Andrew Kim are among those Democrats who have put out social media posts criticizing the conditions at Delaney Hall. Booker described the conditions as “deplorable,” and Kim has said the facility “must be shut down immediately.” Other New Jersey political figures who have chimed in against the ICE facility include Rep. Rob Menendez, Rep. Nellie Pou, Rep. LaMonica McIver, Rep. Frank Pallone, and Rep. Analilia Majia. New York congressional Democrats, including Rep. Adriano Espaillat, Rep. Jerry Nadler, and Rep. Dan Goldman, have also joined in the protests outside Delany Hall.

But what far-left elected officials do not tell their constituents is that they are footing the bill as taxpayers to fund free legal defense for illegal aliens at the facility to the tune of about $20 million. Those same taxpayers are also paying more than $71 million a year for the meals illegal aliens receive at Delany Hall.

ICE directly took on its critics in a press release that commented on the quality of care illegal aliens receive in Newark.

The facts are all detainees are provided with 3 meals a day, clean water, clothing, bedding, showers, soap, and toiletries. Illegal aliens also have access to phones to communicate with their family members and lawyers. Certified dieticians evaluate meals. In fact, ICE has higher detention standards than most U.S. prisons that hold actual U.S. citizens.

It is a longstanding practice to provide comprehensive medical care from the moment an alien enters ICE custody. This includes medical, dental, and mental health services as available, and access to medical appointments and 24-hour emergency care. For many illegal aliens, this is the best healthcare they have received their entire lives.

But it is the criminal records of the illegal aliens in Delany Hall whom Democrats would like to see released that should most concern legal citizens in New Jersey and around the country.

Reality may be catching up with Democrats who favor open borders and higher crime rates. In early September, an illegal alien attempting to escape from an ICE operation in New Jersey ran through a stoplight in his vehicle and collided with a Tesla, injuring the wife of East Brunswick Mayor Brad Broden, a Democrat.

Evidentially, illegal aliens who remain on the loose in New Jersey continue to pose a threat to legal citizens. During the Labor Day weekend, an illegal alien released under the Biden administration kidnapped and sexually assaulted a 6-year-old girl.

Meanwhile, Sherrill and congressional Democrats continue to press ahead with sanctuary policies. By contrast, red states working in partnership with ICE agents are lowering crime rates and improving public safety. Tennessee, for example, is expanding its existing 287(g) programs. ICE is also continuing to report on the success it has had with 287(g) despite an ongoing media blackout of these reports.
