Trump Just Ended Washington's Assault on Gun Rights, Full Stop

President Donald Trump is blasting through years of Democrat-backed gun control with a powerful executive order, calling for a full review of all national firearm laws, ongoing litigation, and federal policies.

On February 8th, President Donald Trump delivered a major victory for Second Amendment supporters by signing a new executive order aimed at protecting and expanding gun rights after years of abuse from Democrat-led policies.

The decision marks the first official step of the Trump administration in dismantling the unconstitutional policies imposed by the Biden administration and aims to restore numerous freedoms to law-abiding gun owners across the nation. Trump is making good on his campaign promise to defend the Second Amendment and is now calling for full reviews of all Second Amendment laws, ongoing litigation, and federal agencies—and he’s set a 30-day limit to do so.

“After a long four years, law-abiding gun owners no longer have to worry about being the target of an anti-gun radical administration,” said John Commerford, executive director of the NRA Institute for Legislative Action (NRA-ILA). “NRA looks forward to the advances and restoration of our rights that will come from President Trump’s respect for the Constitution.”

During the Biden administration, gun control groups gained a foothold in federal policy while agencies like the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF)—under the guise of "regulation"—turned into authoritarian regimes that penalized law abiding Americans and moved around congressional review.

But those days are now over.

The executive order is the first official move of the Trump administration to restore Second Amendment rights, but the new president began working against the anti-gun lobby the moment he took office. In January, directly after swearing in, he abolished the Vice President Kamala Harris-backed White House Office of Gun Violence Prevention—an office widely criticized by gun rights advocates as an unconstitutional backdoor for private groups to manipulate federal policy.

Now, with this new executive order, Trump reaffirms his commitment to upholding the rights of the American people by ensuring that their freedoms are no longer trampled by overreaching government policies.

“Gun owners fought hard to elect a president who would take a sledgehammer to Biden’s unconstitutional gun control policies, and today, President Trump proved he’s serious about that fight. We hope that this executive order is just the first of many victories reestablishing our Second Amendment rights during the Trump administration,” said Gun Owners of America (GOA) Director of Federal Affairs Aidan Johnston.

A Call to Action

Trump’s executive order on the Second Amendment is cracking open a Pandora’s Box for the Left that Democrats never believed they'd face. Years of anti-gun efforts will soon be laid bare—and swiftly dismantled—as Trump moves to vindicate both the Constitution and the voters responsible for his mandate.

The new order directs the U.S. Attorney General to conduct a comprehensive review and provide recommendations to strengthen Second Amendment protections nationwide. More specifically, it requires the attorney general evaluate every action taken by the Biden administration that restricted firearms in any form and propose solutions to undo those measures.

Beyond reversing anti-gun policies imposed by Democrats, the executive order calls for a full government review to further enhance Second Amendment rights. This includes addressing ongoing litigation that could impact gun rights, reviewing how the government classifies and regulates firearms and ammunition, and assessing the current wait times for federal approvals related to the manufacture, transfer, and export of firearms and ammunition.

Unsurprisingly, the very same gun control advocacy groups that used the Biden-era White House Office of Gun Violence Prevention as a policy backdoor were appalled by Trump’s sweeping order—resorting to fearmongering to make their case.

“Guns are already the number one killer of American children and teens. Reversal of these policies will demonstrate only one thing: fealty to the decayed, dying last gasp ‘guns everywhere’ approach thrust unto Americans by the National Rifle Association,” said Brady President Kris Brown.

“Let’s be clear: The bipartisan, life-saving and extremely popular progress on gun safety made under the leadership of the Biden administration is consistent with the Second Amendment, which is why 15 Senate Republicans supported the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act,” wrote Everytown for Gun Safety in a post on X.

Moms Demand Action, another gun control advocacy organization and offshoot of Everytown for Gun Safety, said that its advocates were prepared to do “everything we can” to shield the gun control laws made under the Biden administration.

“We fought tirelessly for nearly a decade for progress at the federal level on gun safety, and we won,” the group wrote.

President Trump is delivering on his promise to restore the Second Amendment and vindicate law-abiding gun owners who suffered under oppressive Democrat policies for years. The Biden-era gun control agenda is officially over, and Americans couldn’t be happier.

Over the next four years, gun owners can finally look forward to fewer restrictions and greater freedom. Meanwhile, regulatory agencies like the ATF—transformed into a modern-day Stasi under Joe Biden’s administration—are now facing harsh limitations that will rein in their overreach and restore fairness to firearm regulations.
