Teens Are Abandoning the LGBT Cult—Here's Why
American youth are rejecting the lies and embracing God's Truth.
The social contagion is over.
A recent analysis of Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) data shows that the share of young teens identifying as lesbian, gay, or bisexual (LGB) is plummeting across America.
The good news builds on a previously documented decline in youth transgender identification. It also coincides with the return to in-person activities following the COVID-19 pandemic and the rise of Christianity among the younger generations.
In 'Free Fall'
Jean Twenge, a psychology professor at San Diego State University, published her analysis of the CDC’s 2025 Youth Risk Behavior Survey results on her Substack. Here's what she found:
- LGB identification decreased across all high school grades between 2023 and 2025.
- The largest drop in LGB identification was among ninth graders, or teens ages 14–15, sinking from 17 percent to 11 percent over the three-year period. "That really does look like a free fall," Twenge said.
- The rate of decline decreased as students' ages increased, with the smallest change observed among 12th graders (from 18 to 16 percent).
- Twenge noted that the drop was "driven almost entirely by girls," who saw a five-point decline in LGB identification overall from 27 to 22 percent. And again, ninth graders saw the biggest drop, with the share plummeting 13 points among those girls from its peak in 2021 (30 percent) to 2025 (17 percent).
- Among boys, the share who identified as LBG dipped from 9 percent in 2023 to just 7 percent in 2025.
The new data build upon Twenge's prior finding that transgender and nonbinary identification are also falling among young adults.
A New Era
The COVID-19 pandemic posed novel challenges for students of all ages as kids were forced into isolation, unable to socialize with their peers in person. The CDC data show those social challenges coincided with a massive spike in LGB identification among American youth—particularly young teens.
- Between 2019 and 2021—the peak of the pandemic—LGB identification skyrocketed across all four grades, with ninth graders again leading the pack.
- Girls were the primary drivers of the upward swing as well, jumping from 17 to 27 percent, though there was a modest increase among the boys (from 5 to 9 percent).
Correlation may not prove causation, but the timing of the LGB identification spike—and its subsequent crash—is hard to ignore. It seems all but certain that pandemic-related challenges were a driving factor. But was the post-COVID return to normalcy the only factor in the decline?
Polling suggests otherwise.
Rejoining the Flock
What the CDC data don't show: Christianity is on the rise among the youth.
Recent polls indicate that Millennials and Zoomers are flocking back to church—and in greater numbers than before the pandemic. And while young men appear to be leading the surge, women aren't far behind.
- A September 2025 Barna study found that "for the first time in decades, younger adults—Gen Z and Millennials—are now the most regular churchgoers," with both groups' attendance surpassing pre-COVID levels.
- An April Gallup poll shows that the share of women ages 18–29 who attend a religious service at least monthly has risen from 33 percent at the height of the pandemic to 39 percent in 2024–25. That’s three points higher than in 2018–19.
- Young men experienced an even bigger spike in church attendance, according to Gallup, jumping from 33 percent in 2022–23 to 40 percent in 2024–25. It marks their highest rate of attendance in more than a decade.
This positive shift coincides with President Donald Trump's emphasis on the United States' Christian heritage, his outspoken belief that he was "saved by God" to "Make America Great Again," and the 2025 assassination of Christian martyr Charlie Kirk.
As more people join or return to the Church, they are likely to be forced to confront any unbiblical views they hold concerning sex and gender.
Why It Matters
The LGBT cult has brainwashed many Americans into believing that sex and gender are "fluid" and that "love is love," even when it's destructive.
The truth: Sex is an immutable characteristic, and not all loves are equal.
The Bible is clear on this (see Genesis 1:27, Leviticus 18:22, 1 Corinthians 6:9-10). There is just one union that can produce life, and that is between one man and one woman. All others only end in physical and spiritual decay.
