Restoration In the News: Jeff Reynolds on Newsmakers at Noon

Editor-at-Large Jeff Reynolds talks to Denise and Hunter about the controversial spread of Flock cameras, former NBA players declaring themselves "trans" so they can join the WNBA draft, and whether calling someone a commie is still an insult.

Restoration News Editor-at-Large Jeff Reynolds recently joined Denise and Hunter on Newsmakers at Noon in Salem, Oregon for a wide-ranging discussion on the topics of the day.

The main topic was the controversial expansion of the surveillance state represented by the explosive growth of Flock cameras. The panelists all made passionate arguments in favor of the Fourth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution that bars government from conducting unreasonable searches, and wondered about a society that conducts mass surveillance on it citizens. The conversation then transitioned, as it were, to the WNBA. Male former NBA players have declared themselves eligible for next spring's WNBA draft, causing a panic in the woke world. Finally, somebody called their bluff.

The station, 1430AM KYKN Radio, published a synopsis of the hour-long talk on social media:

Today’s Newsmakers at Noonwelcomed Jeff Reynolds, Senior Editor at Restoration News, for a lively conversation about socialism, surveillance, women’s sports and the increasingly strange state of American politics.

We talked about former NBA players making a point about WNBA eligibility—and whether some ideas deserve mockery rather than serious consideration.

We also dug into the growing influence of the Democratic Socialists of America, government intervention in everyday life, and a question we wouldn’t have imagined asking a generation ago: Is “communist” no longer a slur?

And we continued our conversation about the surveillance state. New technology can reportedly connect cellphones with license plates, while Flock cameras collect enormous amounts of vehicle data. Public safety matters—but so does the Fourth Amendment.

Plus, the effort to recall Seattle Mayor Katie Wilson and what it says about growing frustration with leadership in the city.

A wide-ranging hour connected by one theme: freedom, limited government and how much control Americans are willing to surrender before pushing back.
