POLL: Two-Thirds of Wisconsin Voters Support Citizen-Only Voting

The November ballot initiative would safeguard elections from non-citizens and illegal aliens

A new poll by Steve Cortes’ League of American Workers found that 66 percent of Wisconsin voters plan to vote for a constitutional amendment that would require U.S. citizenship before registering to vote. That includes independents, Republicans, and Democrats alike.

In contrast, just 18 percent of voters oppose the amendment. 16 percent remain uncertain.

The Citizenship Voting Requirement Amendment on the November 5 ballot would make a simple change to the Wisconsin state constitution, changing the qualification to vote from “every United States citizen” to “only a United States citizen,” while clarifying language regarding public offices at the local, state, and federal level.

Believe it or not, it’s that loophole that “progressive” activists have exploited in California, New York, Vermont, and Maryland to adopt non-citizen voting laws. Washington, D.C.’s law is particularly expansive, allowing Russian, Chinese and other foreign embassy staff to vote in local elections.

While Democrats have attempted to downplay the threat of non-citizen voting in the U.S.—which is illegal under federal law—they’ve also opposed any effort to prevent it. Both of Wisconsin’s Democratic Congressmen, Mark Pocan and Gwen Moore, voted against a bill to repeal D.C.’s non-citizen voting law along with 141 other House Democrats.

And Sen. Tammy Baldwin wouldn’t even comment on whether she backs the Citizenship Voting Requirement Amendment when Restoration News reached out to her office in August.

Yet non-partisan research by Just Facts reveals that as much as 27 percent of non-citizen adults in the U.S. are illegally registered to vote, using statistics drawn from the U.S. Census Bureau, and we can expect north of 3 million non-citizens to illegally vote in the 2024 election.

That’s especially the case in blue states like neighboring Minnesota which arms illegal aliens with driver’s licenses while automatically registering people to vote through the state Motor Vehicles Department.

Restoration News analysis suggests that Wisconsin is at high risk of non-citizen voting this November even as leftist groups pressure Democratic Gov. Tony Evers to legalize illegal alien driver’s licenses.

A recent Restoration News investigation also suggests that at least one school official in Whitewater—a town of 15,000 residents overrun by at least 1,000 illegal aliens from Central America—is unlawfully registering migrants to vote by helping them obtain driver’s licenses without a Social Security Number.

All the more reason to pass the Citizen Only Voting Amendment this November.
