Missouri Sheriffs Have Had Enough, Launch Alliance to Block Gun Control

Missouri sheriffs are working together under a new alliance to block unconstitutional gun control initiatives and educate the public on the importance of responsible firearm ownership.

Dozens of sheriffs gathered at the Missouri Capitol last week to launch the Missouri Sheriff's Constitutional Firearms Alliance—a Second Amendment advocacy group that intends to safeguard gun rights in the Show-Me sate.

The group, led by Douglas County Sheriff Chris Degase, will not only work to defend the Constitution, but will offer resources to educate the public on the importance of the Second Amendment—while also ensuring violent offenders receive proper penalties.

After the announcement, St. Louis Rep. Nick Kimble (D) dismissed their concerns, saying, "No one is coming for any guns or gun rights from my understanding."

They Are, Indeed, Coming For Your Guns

Over the last few years, "progressive" lawmakers in Missouri have passed or attempted to pass a slew of gun control bills that restrict the right to carry in multiple ways. Missouri Democrats have introduced legislation to ban the sale of semi-automatic weapons to anyone under 20, block firearms an arbitrary distance from schools, establish universal background checks, introduce confiscatory red flag laws, and require a permit to own a handgun.

"There is an agenda," said Degase. "I believe that the sheriffs here who answer to the people and uphold the constitution, we are best to represent the people here in protecting their Second Amendment right."

Stopping the Spread

Rep Kimble believes the alliance is undertaking a witch hunt, but "progressive" politicians are relentless with gun control initiatives—pushing for seven unconstitutional laws since 2022.

Additionally, the gun control lobby stays quite busy in the Missouri legislature—slowly pushing the needle on firearm restrictions. Missouri Moms Demand Action, an offshoot of national gun control advocacy group Everytown, holds an annual day of advocacy in Jefferson City, Missouri where volunteers protest the Second Amendment.

They group mobilizes against the Second Amendment—organizing over 8,000 calls and 3,000 letters to fight legislation that would have allowed law-abiding gun owners to carry without a permit.

The Missouri Sheriff's Constitutional Firearms Alliance aims to counter these "progressive" groups and protect citizens from authoritarian laws that leave law-abiding Americans defenseless.

The collection of sheriffs will advocate for gun rights and legislative measures that ensure safety and justice, build partnerships within communities to create a stronger, safer environment for all, and implement programs designed to educate the public on firearm safety and promote responsible ownership.

The group will also work to ensure career criminals face justice for firearm offenses.

A Great Template

Sheriffs aren't just law enforcers—they’re guardians of the Constitution in the communities they serve. The Missouri Sheriff’s Constitutional Firearms Alliance sets a powerful example for sheriffs in states like California, New York, Illinois, and Maryland, where outlandish gun control laws have stripped away the right to carry for millions of law-abiding Americans.

The gun control lobby isn’t going away. It will keep pushing laws that chip away at our freedoms under the banner of "progress." But when responsible citizens stand with sheriffs who respect the Constitution, they form a strong line of defense.

Together, they can stop these dangerous policies before they strip more Americans of their inherent rights.
