Kamala Harris Can’t Overcome Her Crisis of Credibility

Say it out loud: Commander in Chief Kamala Harris doesn’t make sense.

In the wake of a series of disastrous media appearances for Kamala Harris, culminating in the dumpster fire of the interview on Fox News with Bret Baier on Oct. 16, it has become undeniable that the Democratic nominee for president cannot withstand even the slightest scrutiny. Indeed, her handlers ended the Fox News interview early when they saw her taking on water and unable to bail:

When one has difficulty visualizing a concept, or convincing oneself of the possibilities surrounding the infinite choices in life, it often helps to say it out loud. This bit of advice can give one a new perspective on a vexing question. Does something make sense, or will it manifest badly when realized? Sometimes one can spend exorbitant amounts of time silently contemplating the possibilities without coming to a definitive conclusion. In those instances, if one says it out loud to oneself or to a trusted advisor, one can talk out the possible outcomes to better determine which will more likely occur.

This is the equivalent of manifesting thoughts and goals to make them more real in your life. “I will learn French” becomes a lot more real if one says it out loud than if one simply thinks it. Similarly, if one is undecided on their vote in the upcoming election, it may help to talk out the possibilities.

For instance, when one says out loud the phrase, “Kamala Harris, Commander in Chief,” what immediately leaps to mind? If that very first sensation isn’t confidence in her ability, there’s a reason.

A Career Marked by Upward Failure

Since the debate between Donald Trump and original incumbent nominee Joe Biden, we’ve watched the machinations in the Democratic Party that led to Vice President Kamala Harris seizing the nomination. Of course, the Democrats had little choice in the matter, because President Biden clearly lost what little ability he had to execute his office to the ravages of dementia and age-related decline. The Democrats cast their lot in 2020 when Biden bowed to pressure from the woke mob and declared he had to have a black woman as his running mate in the quest to defeat Donald Trump. After not receiving a single vote in the primaries, Kamala Harris failed upward—a feature of her career.

This career-defining feature of hers, failing upward, does not inspire confidence that she possesses competence or the ability to grow into a position of responsibility. Even if one believes in the goals of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) or the concept that one’s intersectional oppression should give a given candidate favorable consideration, competence still must enter into the equation somewhere. This should be the case if for no other reason than to deny opponents of woke DEI policies the ability to dismiss “DEI hires” out of hand.

Let’s review her performance in her current position of Vice President, which she’s held since January 2021. The Fox News interview was not Kamala’s first attempt to project leadership and strength in the media. In fact, she only agreed to appear on “hostile” media after several appearances on more favorable outlets fell flat. Her 60 Minutes interview did not have the outcome her campaign desired:

Kamala Harris spent most of that interview dismissing or deflecting from the policies she’s changed since she became the nominee. When pressed on the reasons for changing her positions, she floundered. That amounts to campaign malpractice by both the candidate and her handlers. They HAD TO KNOW those questions were coming, and they didn’t prepare a convincing response.

Voters Aren’t Buying Her Schtick

Recently, we’ve seen the betting markets swing heavily in Donald Trump’s favor, as Kamala Harris squandered all the momentum she may have gained at the DNC nominating convention in August in Chicago. The cracks started showing well before the past couple of weeks, though. Even as she maintained healthy leads over Trump in national polls for a month or so, state-level polling revealed significant erosion on key issues—especially in the battleground states.

In a survey of 1037 registered voters in North Carolina conducted in September, the League of American Voters (LAW) found Kamala Harris underwater on the question of authenticity. Notably, this poll was conducted prior to the media blitz Harris engaged in over the past few weeks. Respondents answered the question, “Regardless of whom you are voting for, which candidate do you believe is more authentic and genuine?” Donald Trump got 55%, while Kamala Harris struggled at only 42%.

Another poll commissioned by LAW in Georgia in September found similar results. Voters were asked which candidate they trusted more on various issues. Those questions, with Kamala’s results:

  • Improving national security: 37%
  • Lowering the national debt: 40%
  • Growing the economy: 39%
  • Reducing taxes: 44%
  • Cutting spending: 41%
  • Reducing crime: 39%
  • Implementing a strong foreign policy: 37%
  • Ensuring energy security/energy independence: 41%
  • Fixing inflation: 38%
  • Securing the border: 31%

The bottom line: even before she began melting down under the bright lights of scrutiny, not many voters bought her schtick.

A poll conducted for LAW in October in Pennsylvania asked voters: “Do you believe Kamala Harris's positions on the following issues are genuine conversions or politically motivated for the coming election?” On both fracking and the border wall, she failed to top 36%.

Kamala Harris Is Not Authentic—And the Voters Know It

The more voters get to know Kamala Harris, the less they like and trust her. Despite holding public office for her entire adult life, she’s dwelled in the protection of relative anonymity. Even her putative run for president in 2020, and her bulldog questioning of Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh in the senate, amounted to measured and scripted exposures in the national spotlight. She never really faced any true scrutiny, nor did she open herself up to any attention outside of grandstanding for progressive causes. Now that she’s up for the job of leader of the free world, the voters see she’s fully unprepared for this level of examination. She can’t even finish interviews with friendly news outlets without getting flustered.

Now imagine her having a tough, adversarial meeting at a summit with Vladimir Putin or Xi Jinping. How do you honestly think she’d hold up under that kind of pressure?

Say it out loud: Kamala Harris as Commander in Chief should scare the daylights out of every voter.
