How Trump is Making Your Dishwasher Great Again
Say goodbye to hated energy efficiency regulations that make your appliances pricier and lousier.
If you suspect dishwashers and washing machines are getting worse, you aren't wrong… and that's about to change.
Earlier this month, President Trump ordered the Energy Department to halt enforcement of and ultimately rescind Obama-era regulations restricting water flow to faucets, showerheads, toilets, dishwashers, and washing machines, calling them "unnecessary radical green agenda policies."
It's one big step toward ending the federal government's assault on everyday appliances to please special interests in Washington—at your expense.
Energy efficiency regulations promulgated under the EPA's Energy Star program have raised washing machine prices by as much as $100 and doubled the time it takes for a dishwasher to clean your dishes, from one to two hours for a single load.
The problem begin in 1992 with the Energy Policy Act, which established national appliance standards, including the Energy Star program, that's so hated across party lines today. Decades later, studies have concluded that the energy and water efficiency standards actually lowered lifespans for appliances and curbed efficiency significantly.
Americans got a four-year reprieve under the first Trump administration, which worked to roll back many of the worst standards put in place by Democrats. Then Biden and Harris swept in to undo his work… and set about making everything even worse.
Lightbulb prices have doubled due to Biden-era regulations. The eco-activist attack on natural gas would've rendered gas-fired water heaters unaffordable for most families. Yet Biden's electric water heater standards would've sent prices skyrocketing by nearly $1,000 if they were allowed to go into effect in 2029, the year Kamala Harris would be leaving office if she'd won the White House last year.
Recall that the Left's climate change paranoia sparked a campaign to rid America of gas stoves in 2023 using these same efficiency standards—even as Harris posed next to her own gas stove for a touching Thanksgiving photo.
But all that could quickly change under a Democratic president. Democratic politicians are doubling down on extreme "green" policies that cost trillions of dollars for absolutely nothing. They don't do anything for the earth or our environment, but they do line the pockets of professional lobbyists, activists, and other parasites in the Beltway consultant class.
