Democratic Virginia AG Candidate Jay Jones Wished for Speaker Gilbert’s Children to Die

Virginia Democrats say Jay Jones is “what real leadership looks like.”

Violent Democrat rhetoric has gotten even more outrageous. Text messages show candidate for Virginia Attorney General Jay Jones (D) wanted “two bullets to the head” of former Speaker of the House of Delegates Todd Gilbert a Republican. Then Jones doubled down hoping for Gilbert’s “fascist” children to die so the Gilbert family would “feel pain personally” so he would “move on policy.”

This startling revelation comes only a few weeks after the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk by a radicalized leftist that shocked the nation's conscience.

What kind of sick human being wishes for the death of anyone, especially children, hoping that would "move on policy?"

I grew up in a small Virginia town with Todd Gilbert. We went to high school together and his mother was my teacher. Gilbert has devoted his life to the service of our Commonwealth and prosecuting violent criminals. He is a highly respected attorney and a genuinely great man. I’m sure these revelations about Jones’ texts have been disturbing for the Gilbert family.

Jones Should Take his Own Advice

In 2021, the first time Jones unsuccessfully ran for attorney general, he called for a Norfolk police officer’s resignation. The officer was investigated for donating $25 to the defense fund of Kyle Rittenhouse. Out of self-defense, Rittenhouse shot two protesters in Wisconsin during a BLM riot and was acquitted of any wrongdoing. Jay Jones called the officer’s conduct “utterly disgusting and said, “If these allegations are true, Officer Kelly must resign from the Norfolk Police Department immediately.”

How can any voter in Virginia rely on Jay Jones to apply the law equally to all?

Jay Jones should take his own advice and step down immediately.

Democrats Double Down in Support of Jones

The same day the gruesome texts were revealed, Virginia Democrats got in line to support and defend Jones. Henrico Democrats put out a statement on Friday, Oct. 4 standing firm in their support of Jones. They said Jay Jones is “what real leadership looks like” and for Democrats to “hold the line and keep on truckin’.”

Virginia Beach Democrats also issued a statement the same day claiming they were “ten toes down” for Jay Jones. That’s slang for being completely committed to someone.

Virginia Democrats are completely out of touch—even MSNBC thinks Jay Jones should step down. Their morning show pointed out that in the “time right now with such concern about violent rhetoric and political violence, this is way beyond the line.” Another commentator said, “this guy should do everyone a favor and step out of the race.”

So far, not one Virginia Democrat has called for Jay Jones to step down. This will not only affect Jones, but every Democratic politician that has supported him, including gubernatorial candidate Abigail Spanberger. They all bear responsibility for not taking a stand against Jones' hateful rhetoric. Do Virginia voters really support this type of enflamed rhetoric calling for ever more political violence?

For the good of the nation and the commonwealth, Jones must withdraw immediately.
