Child Protection Advocates Slam Planned Parenthood’s Dangerous Trans Agenda
The abortion provider has found another way to put profit over children’s health and well-being.
Learning of Planned Parenthood’s provision of cross-sex hormones to minors was "heartbreaking, but unsurprising" for former NCAA swimmer and child protection advocate Riley Gaines.
"I would love to tell you that I was shocked. I would love to be able to truthfully answer that I was surprised this is happening. But as someone who has been really thrust into the position I believe that I am in now, I’m not shocked," Gaines said during a virtual event with the pro-life organization Live Action on May 13.
Her comments followed Live Action’s release last week of bombshell recordings exposing Planned Parenthood’s willingness to provide transgender hormone therapy to patients as young as 16 years old—without any prior therapy or evaluations.
In a series of phone calls with Planned Parenthood employees across multiple states, an undercover journalist posing as a 16-year-old girl was able to confirm that the organization will provide cross-sex hormones to underage patients after just one appointment, including virtual appointments, and even on the same day.
Planned Parenthood boasts that, in addition to being the nation’s leading abortion provider, it is also now the second-largest provider of hormone therapy in the United States. The organization also proudly advertises its "informed consent" model on its website, assuring patients that they don’t need a mental health professional to help them weigh the treatment’s risks and benefits.
Live Action Founder and President Lila Rose said "the time is now to expose Planned Parenthood’s trans hormone and abortion agenda. That is what we are doing today on this urgent national webcast."
Advocates Call for Planned Parenthood’s 'Immediate' Defunding
As an athlete who was forced to compete against a biological male, Gaines has become a prominent voice in the fight to keep trans-identifying males out of female sports. She said it was important for those who had experienced the harms of radical trans ideology to speak out and sound the alarm.
Fellow advocate Chloe Cole agreed.
Cole began taking Lupron, a puberty-blocking drug, and testosterone at age 13 after doctors said her discomfort with puberty was not just a phase and would end in tragedy if she didn’t start the gender transition process.
"I ended up having a double mastectomy, a surgical removal of my breasts, at 15 years old—before I could even legally drive a car," Cole said.
She has since detransitioned—without those doctors’ help—and now shares her experience to warn others of the lasting physical, emotional, and psychological traumas gender transition procedures can impose on children.
"It disgusts me to my core to see this continue to happen," Cole said of Planned Parenthood’s apparent eagerness to exploit vulnerable children.

The recordings come at a pivotal moment as the battle to strip Planned Parenthood of its Medicaid funding takes shape on Capitol Hill.
This week, members of Congress are working to finalize the details of President Donald Trump’s "big, beautiful" reconciliation bill to implement his agenda. Embedded within the House Energy and Commerce Committee’s portion of the bill is a provision that would prohibit abortion providers like Planned Parenthood from receiving any Medicaid funding for the next 10 years.
If passed, the measure would deprive Planned Parenthood of its largest funding source. Just last year, government reimbursements and grants accounted for 39 percent of the organization’s total revenue—a whopping $792 million—according to its latest annual report.
The provision is expected to be a sticking point for some of the more moderate Republicans in Congress. But Gaines said Live Action’s reporting only solidified her belief that Planned Parenthood "should be defunded immediately."
"We know they’re performing over 400,000 abortions a year . . . We know they’re administering these hormones, these unnatural, injectable, chemical forms of sterilization and castration to minors and beyond. And we know with this money, they’re supporting Democratic candidates and the Democratic Party with our taxpayer dollars," Gaines noted.
Congress, she added, "should act immediately."
