Charlie Kirk's Legacy is Restoring America, One Conversation at a Time
Remembering the late apologist for conservative, Christian values and how he shaped a generation.
Almost two weeks after Charlie Kirk's murder, one thing's clear: America—and the conservative movement to recover her greatness—will never be the same.
From a mass exodus from the Democrat Party to a burgeoning revival in the churches, the great apologist for free minds and hearts is blessing his country one last time… and we've yet to see the far-reaching effects. But that won't stop us from reflecting on how he changed our lives for the better.
Many members of the Restoration of America family had personal remembrances and thoughts to share on the loss of Charlie Kirk, and how the conservative movement changed forever.
He Never Said 'I Told You So,' But He Could Have
I had been working in politics for over 20 years by the time I met Charlie Kirk. He was a teenager with a big idea. He was planning to launch an organization that was going to be focused on getting young people engaged in the conservative movement.
This was in the midst of the Obama administration—and young people flocked to Obama like moths to a flame. It seemed to me to be perhaps the least opportune time to launch such an organization. I shared this with Charlie, who told me that he didn't disagree with my assessment but that for the same reasons felt that it was the MOST opportune time to do so.
He was obviously right.
We had occasional dealings with one another over the years as we each worked in our respective conservative groups and he was kind enough to never say "I told you so!" Charlie was an extraordinary communicator, a visionary leader, and a genuinely kind and caring person. I learned several things from Charlie, but most directly learned not to write off any segment of voters. If we're not reaching voters it's not because of age or ideology, it's just a matter of communication skill and determination.

An Attack on the Body of Christ
Though I never met Charlie Kirk, the news of his murder hit harder than I expected—something I’ve heard echoed by many. That deep connection comes from the spiritual bond we share as one body in Christ. Charlie was my brother, not by a familial blood line, but because of the blood of Jesus.
1 Corinthians 12:12-13 tells us,
For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, so it is with Christ. For in one Spirit we were all baptized into one body—Jews or Greeks, slaves or free—and all were made to drink of one Spirit.
The true body of believers are unified as one. No matter your background, we are made one family through our faith in Jesus.
This was not just an attack on Charlie, it was an attack on a movement that is succeeding on turning young folks to Christ. Those who practice the religion of secularism ultimately get their inspiration from the Devil. A spiritual battle is unfolding. Our sword is God’s word and no matter how much we are persecuted for our faith; we must remember the truths of the Bible. Ultimately, we know the outcome of our story. God wins.

Out of Devastation, New Motivation
Words can hardly capture how deeply I feel Charlie’s loss. He was a friend and mentor to many in the conservative movement and his life served as an example for how we should model ourselves in society. Charlie’s work ethic was impeccable and his debate skills were unmatched. He always welcomed a conversation, especially with those who disagreed with him, and he was willing to tell you the hard truth regardless of whether you were ready to hear it. The core of Charlie’s mission was always clear: Honor God, raise a family, work hard, and embrace American privilege.
I had the pleasure of working with Charlie several times over the years. I met my fiancée—a former Turning Point staffer for his tour events in Florida. I even had the opportunity to visit Turning Point headquarters in Arizona while campaigning for Donald Trump during the 2024 election. It’s unfathomable that Charlie lost his life by welcoming open dialogue, but his death reinforces the need for more people to step into the fight. Like most of us, I am still in disbelief, angry, and devastated yet more motivated than ever to defeat the lies of the left, character smearing, and evil that seeks to destroy free speech and democratic values.
My grieving prayers are with Erika and the beautiful children that Charlie left behind. May he rest in eternal paradise and watch over us as we carry forward his vision, defend the principles he cherished, and live with the courage, honesty, and faith that defined his remarkable life.

The Charlie Effect
In a world collapsing into violence and destruction, Charlie Kirk refused violence right up to his last breath.
Once, when an older man challenged him to a "gentleman's fistfight" at a college campus earlier this year, Charlie declined. "I would like to think that we are elevated above trying to go have a fight in the streets, or in front of 2,000 people,” he explained. “In fact, a mark of civilization is that we don’t have to go to blows or bullets, that we can have discourse and debate."
Our civilization would appear to be crumbling.
While Charlie was an intellectual giant, he never wielded his words as a weapon. He merely pointed others to the truth, calmly guiding them down the path of reason to a final, logical destination. He fostered civil discourse, reminding college students that it’s OK to disagree. He also encouraged them to think critically, artfully communicating the merits of conservatism and Christianity.
In truth, the only threat Charlie posed was his effectiveness. Armed with seemingly encyclopedic knowledge and a wisdom far beyond his years, he could deftly dismantle any argument. With his tireless work ethic and boundless optimism, he inspired a new generation of conservatives and delivered the youth vote for the president he loved. That, ultimately, is what cost him his life.
Charlie's murder has sparked a transformation worldwide. Millions who had never even heard of Charlie Kirk now know his name, his principles, and—most importantly—his God.
Thousands have posted pictures of packed pews and their newly purchased Bibles, all citing Charlie as their inspiration. Young men and women who say they left God are finding their way out of the darkness and back into His fold. Even Health and Human Sec. Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., an independent, said he had seen the impacts of what some have dubbed "the Charlie effect" in his own family.
This is the Turning Point. We are all Charlie Kirk now, and we will avenge his death and eradicate the hateful ideology of the Left in the way he would have wanted: with better ideas.

Abolishing Wrongthink—Forever
America has developed a habit it refuses to break, returning yet again to a dopamine hit of self-satisfaction and blame. "I'm on the right side of history, it's that guy who's to blame." No treatment plan has yet been strong enough to break us of this need for the dopamine hits we get when we point our fingers outward. Indeed, we've developed an entire culture of dishonesty and manipulation to justify and defend our addiction.
We cannot continue this way. It is long past time for deep, reflective introspection. America needs an intervention if it wants to survive as one nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. America needs her citizens to stop demonizing and dehumanizing each other.
It didn't start with the Tea Party. Democrats have called Republicans fascists and Nazis for decades—from Barry Goldwater's supposed "stench of fascism," to "crypto-Nazi" William F. Buckley, to Richard Nixon, all slapped with the label of heir to Adolf Hitler.
It seems history doesn't repeat itself, but it does rhyme.
In America, we say we revere the right to free expression and enshrined it in our founding document. And yet we tolerate those who would intimidate people accused of wrongthink for not aligning with the Approved Narrative. We brush off terroristic threats and terroristic acts committed by anti-American revolutionaries who would rather see our nation destroyed than to allow opposing viewpoints. And in an ironic twist, these revolutionaries hide behind the First Amendment, defending their violent actions as mere free expression.
Now Charlie Kirk is dead. Killed by an assassin who held the view that what Kirk believed made him the equivalent of the worst genocidal leaders in history.
America, stop looking at the other guy or gal. It's long past time to point the finger in the opposite direction. This week's violence calls out for a national soul-searching. Are there some neo-Nazis in America? Yeah, probably, but the number is vanishingly small. Is your neighbor a fascist, just because she voted for Trump or reads her Bible regularly? Do you support genocide if you want lower taxes and a smaller government?
If you want to find dictatorial intent, stop looking at your neighbor and instead look to some place like China, Venezuela, or Iran.
Holding normal, traditionally American, free market, Biblical, constitutional values does not make one a fascist, and if you believe it does, you need to reexamine the basis of your beliefs.

Inspiring a New Declaration of Independence
I interacted with Charlie exactly once—a single social media message in May 2019, when we encouraged one another to "keep up the good work." We never met in person, yet our paths ran parallel: working in the same circles, walking the same eye-opening journey, even raising children of the same age. It's sobering to think he might have been president had God given Charlie his full fourscore and ten. I wish I had known him better.
Almost no one expected much from Millennials—or from Gen Z, for that matter, least of all ourselves. But through heroes like Charlie Kirk, we discovered our God-given purpose on earth: to end the long decay of the country we love, though we never saw its best days. The immense crowds Charlie attracted revealed the strength of young America, a unity and sense of shared destiny. Once mocked as the "participation trophy" generation, we are becoming the Greatest Generation of the 21st century—indivisible, resilient, and determined.
If the 1960s youth were selfish, shortsighted, and free-spirited, the youth of the 2020s are focused, clear-eyed, and bound to one another. As a child, I was told to fear what America was devolving into. As a father, however, I don't shudder to think of the world my children will inherit, for God is lifting the curse of the 20th century—the most disastrous age in human history. He is working something great in our midst, and I believe Charlie knew that. That's why the Lord raised him up: to bring hope and truth into a dark world. And he succeeded.
Rest in peace, Charlie.
And how can man die better
Than facing fearful odds,
For the ashes of his fathers
And the temples of his gods?
