Worst Climate Stories of the Week – The Why Donald Trump Won Edition

We took some time off from satirizing the climate doom industry, but we’re back, and hoo boy.

Donald Trump decisively on November 5, and in response, the meltdowns by the leftists caused global temperatures to skyrocket. Well, not really, but they sure did release a lot of hot air. If this keeps up, we might be growing pineapples in Colorado sooner than we thought.

We have a lot to catch up on this week, from academic professionals rage resigning, to The Resistance™ gearing up to oppose Trump’s supposed assault on all things green. We also have the Biden-Harris administration holding a fire sale, blowing out the rest of the money they have before Dad gets home; the United Nations climate meeting invites actual terrorists to participate, because they have a lot to say about the environment; all sorts of corruption and lying in climate science (shocking, right?); and more insane ideas to deal with non-existent problems.

One thing is certain: the over-the-top panic and emotional outbursts over the next four years will continue to prove why Trump won with voters tired of the BS.

This week has quite a grab bag of stories, so buckle up, this one’s gonna be a doozy.

This Month’s Roundup of Insane Geoengineering Ideas

While we spent the past several weeks paying attention to the election, the “scientists” pushed even harder on some truly nutty ideas to save the planet. Restoration News has previously reported on the “glacier curtains” proposal to keep the “Doomsday Glacier” in Antarctica from breaking off and flooding the globe. Well, they’re still at it:

"For some polar tipping points like Arctic sea ice and the WAIS, glacial geoengineering seems to be the only way for us to more or less guarantee that we can address these tipping points," Gernot Wagner, a climate economist at Columbia Climate School told GlacierHub.

They’re reasonably sure it’ll work with no unintended consequences. More or less.

This same field of science has now advanced the idea that planting trees causes global warming. In a paper published at the peer-reviewed journal Nature, planting trees blocks the sunlight from hitting the earth, which causes net warming.

It’s a good thing these scientists are so sure of their conclusions and nothing ever happens to make them re-evaluate the consequences of their claims, right?

In two papers — published today in the journals Environmental Research Letters and Joule — Harvard University researchers find that the transition to wind or solar power in the U.S. would require five to 20 times more land than previously thought, and, if such large-scale wind farms were built, would warm average surface temperatures over the continental U.S. by 0.24 degrees Celsius.

They’re reasonably sure the transition to clean energy is still a good idea. More or less.

Just look at Germany as a leader in green energy:

Welt Business (translated from German, paywalled) reports Now Germany is experiencing a green electricity outage – with huge consequences

“The foggy weather of the last few days has brought green electricity production to a virtual standstill.”

The Resistance™ Gears Up to Resist So Hard

Last time Donald Trump occupied the White House, we saw waves and waves of mostly peaceful resistances of totally organic origins not in any way coordinated by highly-paid professional protest consultants. Looks like the climate alarm industry has similar designs for Trump’s second term in office:

Donald Trump has promised to demolish the country’s domestic and international climate policies at a crucial moment, when climate scientists say the window is closing on the world’s ability to avoid the most dangerous impacts of global warming.

But in the eight years since Trump’s shocking 2016 win, environmental groups have built more organized, collaborative coalitions and say they won’t be caught off guard by Trump’s second term in the White House.

So we have that to look forward to. Which is nice.

Making It Up As They Go

That shocked face you make when you realize scientists have invented climate data out of thin air:

Shocking evidence has emerged that points to the U.K. Met Office inventing temperature data from over 100 non-existent weather stations. The explosive allegations have been made by citizen journalist Ray Sanders and sent to the new Labour Science Minister Peter Kyle MP. Following a number of Freedom of Information requests to the Met Office and diligent field work visiting individuals stations, Sanders has discovered that 103 stations out of 302 sites supplying temperature averages do not exist. “How would any reasonable observer know that the data was not real and simply ‘made up’ by a Government agency,” asks Sanders. He calls for an “open declaration” of likely inaccuracy of existing published data, “to avoid other institutions and researchers using unreliable data and reaching erroneous conclusions”.

PANIC! EVERYTHING IS MELTING!

The scientists are reasonably sure the fake data doesn’t invalidate their predictions of utter global doom. More or less.

The week before the election, a level-headed, sober analysis revealed we’ve all already died of climate doom, we just didn’t notice:

Earth is becoming “increasingly uninhabitable” as the planet continues to warm due to climate change.

A group of 80 researchers from 45 countries is warning this week of global challenges driven by human-made emissions.

Those challenges include surging methane emission levels, continued air pollution, intense heat and humidity, increasing health risks exacerbated by climate extremes, concerns about global climate patterns, threats to biodiversity and the Amazon, impacts to infrastructure, and more.

It’s so uninhabitable, in fact, that the world’s population only jumped to 8.2 billion people. At a growth rate of 0.86%, our population keeps growing because the earth is no longer habitable. Duh.

Then again, the possibility exists that maybe this green panic has no basis in reality. And maybe some scientists have even published articles proving it. In fact, Demetris Koutsoyiannais, the publisher of the Hydrological Sciences Journal, published a paper once again demonstrating the minimal contributions of CO2 in atmospheric temperature change. The main culprit? Water vapor, which coincidentally has proven very difficult to tax. Not many grants get awarded by governments to study the effects of clouds on global warming, it turns out.

Quick, Light All the Money on Fire Before Dad Gets Home!

A longstanding tradition in government is to make sure all this year’s budget money gets spent before the end of the fiscal year, to justify increases in the budget in the next appropriations process. And since Donald Trump is retaking the White House from Joe Biden in January, the Biden-Harris regime needs to make sure they spend all that money they got in the Inflation “Reduction” Act:

A new report by House Republicans claims that the Biden-Harris administration distributed $41 billion to environmental groups that “spread radical, left-leaning ideology” in an effort to eliminate the use of fossil fuels in the United States.

The report, which was recently published by the House Energy and Commerce Committee, criticizes the Biden-Harris administration for allocating federal funding to groups promoting green energy technology that “relies upon supply chains dominated by the Chinese Communist Party.”

Then again, maybe not, if this headline holds any accuracy:

The stench of corruption emanating from the Biden/Harris EPA “climate change” arena – turning “go nowhere, do nothing, jack shit” climate advocacy groups into billionaires with taxpayer funds

This was in response to the Real Clear Investigations look at the Justice Climate Fund:

Although there isn’t much public information available about the Justice Climate Fund, it appears to have been an overnight success.

After gaining nonprofit status in August 2023, the organization was awarded $940 million by the Biden administration just eight months later in connection with the White House’s $27 billion Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund, which aims to provide financial assistance to reduce carbon emissions and reduce pollution.

Not to put too fine a point on it, but American voters signaled how over it they are by re-electing Donald Trump to come in and clean up all this crap.

Even if Pope Francis says we need a global financial revolution.

The Taliban Invitation to COP29 Is a Bomb

Our friends over at Twitchy pointed out the absurdity of the upcoming UN climate meeting, or COP29, taking place in Azerbaijan:

The U.N. is pointless. And not only pointless, they are downright evil and hypocritical. It's why they put human rights abusers like China on the Human Rights Council and why they're letting the freaking Taliban attend a climate conference.

They note last month the Taliban banned women from speaking in public, and last year insisted that COP28 in Doha bar Afghan women from participating. They also insisted on removing women’s rights from the meeting agenda.

Some stakeholders are more equal than others, it seems.

Finally, some good news . . . .

Editor of Scientific American Resigns

The odious and horribly biased Laura Helmuth has resigned and will no longer lead the ruination of a once great popular science magazine. In case you don’t know who that is, here’s a look at her reaction to the election of Donald Trump:

 editor-scientific-american.png

Much like National Geographic, Scientific American held a place of great esteem in American journalism, bringing science news and analysis to a wider audience of non-academics for many years, before it went completely woke. Sober analysis went out the window decades ago in favor of a radical leftist viewpoint, reflecting a wider trend in academia.

Now, Helmuth has decided to move on.

Now, we can’t hope this will cause the venerable journalistic outlet to suddenly lurch back towards respectability, but maybe this can catalyze an eventual return to basic sense.

Two Big Events In Carbon Regulation

A federal appeals court just rolled back environmental regulations on federal agencies that originated under Jimmy Carter:

A federal appeals court determined that the White House does not have the authority to issue binding environmental regulations under the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), upending several decades of the practice.

NEPA is a federal law that requires federal agencies to conduct a review of environmental impacts before making any decisions and then issue a "detailed statement" of the environmental review.

In a divided decision Tuesday, the D.C. District Court of Appeals ruled that the White House Council on Environmental Quality (CEQ), established to instruct agencies on NEPA compliance, does not have the power to issue regulations on other federal agencies as it has been for more than 40 years.

Then, a European court ruled in favor of Shell Oil, saying the government could not force it to reduce “carbon emissions:”

AMSTERDAM, Nov 12 (Reuters) - Oil and gas major Shell (SHEL.L), opens new tab on Tuesday won an appeal against a landmark ruling that required it to accelerate carbon reduction efforts, dealing a blow to campaigners who have turned to legal channels to pursue climate action.

The appeals court in The Hague said Shell had a responsibility to reduce greenhouse gas emissions to protect people from global warming.

But it dismissed the 2021 ruling that ordered Shell to cut its absolute carbon emissions by 45% by 2030 compared to 2019 levels, including those caused by the use of its products.

The wheels of justice grind slowly, but eventually we may hope that the judicial system will come out on the side of the truth.
