Why Won’t Swing State Democrats Deport Illegal Aliens Committing DUIs?

If you guessed “Because they hate America,” gold star to you.

Congressional Democrats are so eager to flood the nation with illegal aliens that they’re even willing to protect drunk drivers from deportation.

That’s the message from 150 House Democrats, anyway, who voted against a bill (H.R. 6976) earlier this month that would make a drunk driving conviction grounds for deporting non-citizens from the United States.

Some 11,000 people die yearly due to drunk driving. Considering 93 percent of Americans consider drunk driving a “serious problem,” you’d think that strengthening those decades-old protections is as commonsense as they come. Except in our nation’s capital. (Bizarre? Forget it, Jake, it’s Chinatown.)

That’s par for the course for blue state champagne socialists like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D–NY), but why would so many swing state Democrats join her?

Analysis by Restoration News reveals who the real radicals are when it comes to protecting America’s borders.

In North Carolina, Democrat Reps. Alma Adams and Valerie Foushee voted to protect illegal aliens who drive under the influence. Both voted against the 2023 Secure the Border Act which would’ve funded completion of President Trump’s border wall. Recall that Adams bragged about supporting a path for illegal immigrants to obtain U.S. citizenship in 2019 in defiance of Trump’s immigration policies.

Three Michigan Democrats—Haley Stevens, Shri Thanedar, and the pro-Hamas Rashida Tlaib—all voted against the DUI bill. Each has voiced support for open borders and granting “dreamers”—non-citizens brought here illegally by their parents—citizenship.

In Wisconsin, Democrat Reps. Gwen Moore and Mark Pocan opposed the DUI bill. Pocan, reflecting Madison values over those of regular Wisconsiners, would go even further—in 2018 he sponsored a bill to abolish Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), the agency responsible for protecting our southern border. Moore later cheered on dangerous protesters who surrounded an ICE building in Milwaukee, threatening to stop federal agents from “carry[ing] out enforcement actions.”

All 5 of Georgia’s Democratic Congressmen voted to protect illegal aliens who drive drunk: Reps. Sanford Bishop, Hank Johnson, Lucy McBath, David Scott, and Nikema Williams. Johnson is a particularly vocal ally of the open borders activists lobbying for illegal alien citizenship in Georgia.

Then there’s Arizona Rep. Raul Grijalva, who’s so far-left he attacked Gov. Katie Hobbs’ (D) desperate decision to Arizona send national guardsmen to the Lukeville crossing in December—itself a fig leaf to distract from Hobbs’ long support for open borders.

The unending flood of illegal aliens into the country will wreak untold damage on the Grand Canyon State for years, with 1 in 34 Arizonans dying from fentanyl overdose (accidental or otherwise) as Mexican cartels smuggle drugs across the porous U.S. border.

Then there’s the threat to elections. A new report by the Public Interest Legal Foundation found nearly 200 non-citizens on the voter rolls in Pima and Maricopa Counties, 46 of them registered as Democrats.

Restoration News was the first to report on a new scheme by Democrat Sec. of State Adrian Fontes to help non-citizens vote in the 2024 election—including the March 19 Republican primary. In February, Republicans sued Fontes for undermining Arizona’s elections; time will tell if it’s enough.

Americans are quickly learning that there are no more moderate Democratic lawmakers in America. Under Biden, a stunning 7.2 million illegal aliens have entered the country—bigger than the population of 32 U.S. states. That’s not a mistake; it’s the Left’s immigration policies in practice. Patriotic citizens must vote the Democrats out in November… or lose their country altogether.
