NC’s Radical Governor Just Vetoed a Bill to Stop Sanctuary County Sheriffs From Harboring Illegal Alien Criminals. Josh Stein Won’t Lift a Finger.

Will Josh Stein continue to endorse these sheriffs who put North Carolinians in danger?

Gov. Roy Cooper (D-NC) just vetoed a bill that would require sanctuary city sheriffs to report non-citizen criminals to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), keeping the floodgates open in North Carolina’s 7 sanctuary counties where immigration laws are not enforced by Democrat sheriffs.

Will Attorney General and candidate for Governor Josh Stein enforce this law if the Republican controlled legislature overrides the veto? Stein’s past statements in support of sanctuary sheriffs indicate he won’t be tough on these criminals invading the Tarheel state.

There are at least 7 illegal alien sanctuary counties across North Carolina whose sheriffs fail to cooperate with ICE. Violent child sexual predators, human traffickers, and other illegal alien criminals are released back into the community rather than deported.

At IllegalAlienCrimes.com, Restoration News has documented well over 300 heinous crimes by illegal aliens across North Carolina in just the last 3 years under Biden-Harris. These are only the ones being reported and not hidden by sanctuary sheriffs.

HB 10, passed on Sept. 11 by Republicans in the North Carolina General Assembly, would require jail administrators to attempt to determine if a prisoner is a legal resident and if they aren’t legal or the determination is unknown, an inquiry must be sent to ICE. Further, the administrators must take the prisoner before a state judicial official who must be provided with the detainer and administrative warrants prior to a prisoner’s release. Reports must also be made annually beginning Oct. 1, 2024, regarding compliance with the law to include the number of times a facility made a query with ICE.

Only 3 Democrats in the state legislature voted in favor of the legislation while 60 opposed it. North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper (D) vetoed the bill and now it goes back to the legislature to be considered for a likely veto override.

Restoration News reached out to Attorney General and candidate for governor, Josh Stein asked if he would enforce the law and require sheriffs to cooperate with ICE if this legislation is passed. We never received a response.

Here are just a few of the illegal alien criminals that have been arrested in North Carolina under the Biden-Harris regime:

  • Mar. 11, 2024, Gates County—An illegal alien from near Yemen who was on the terror watch list, Awet Hagos, was arrested after a barricade situation. Hagos attempted to disarm a police officer during his arrest.
  • Apr. 4, 2024, Dare County—Bryallan Gabinno Barreras-Garcia was arrested for indecent liberties with a child and statutory sex offense with child under 15. He was placed on immigration detainer.
  • Apr. 24, 2024, Pender County—Antonio DeJesus Martinez Hernandez was arrested for statutory rape and indecent liberties with a child. He is being held on an ICE detainer.
  • June 24, 2024, Rockingham County—Julio Monquel-Sandria, an illegal alien who had been deported multiple times, was charged for assault inflicting serious injury, false imprisonment, possession of meth, and other outstanding warrants. Sandria confronted his coworkers “with a gun and beat one of the individuals with an extension cord and then made that person assault the other two employees with the extension cord at gunpoint, threatening to shoot them if they did not comply. He then ran away.”
  • July 27, 2024, Granville County—5 people from Mexico and Cuba were arrested after an illegal cockfighting ring was found. Immigration detainers were issued.

These are just a few of the thousands of illegal aliens present in North Carolina and Democrats just voted to protect them from deportation. The only way to solve this problem is to elect Donald Trump who will secure the border and protect America.
