Major Liar

It is disgraceful that Tim Walz campaigned on the false notion that he went to war and claimed a higher rank than he earned—for political gain.

In multiple campaign ads when he ran for Congress, Tim Walz claimed a rank that he didn’t earn and alludes to going to war—when he didn’t. When Walz’s unit received the call to war, he stayed home. Yet in a political ad Walz uses a headline about the National Guard getting called to war, deliberately creating the false perception that he went to war. The ad claimed he was a soldier “who served for two decades but ready when they attacked.” Not only was he not ready when they attacked, Walz abandoned his unit when they went to war.

Tim Walz’s official military record on Sept. 10, 2005 details his date of discharge as May 16, 2005 at the rank of E-8 (Master Sergeant). Yet for nearly 20 years, Walz repeatedly claims, even in meetings of Congress, that he was a retired E-9 (Command Sergeant Major). While in Congress, Walz also created a personalized congressional challenge coin that displayed the Command Sergeant Major symbol.

Perhaps most appalling Walz claimed that he carried “weapons of war” into war in a political speech trying to restrict second amendment rights.

statement by the Department of Defense indicates that retired military members may use their titles but must never use them in any “manner which may bring discredit to the uniformed services.” The defense department also prohibits the use of photos in uniform in campaign materials unless they display a proper disclaimer. He has multiple pictures of himself in uniform in campaign ads with no disclaimer.

Walz should answer for his false impersonations and misrepresentations for political gain.

If he’s willing to lie about his service, what else will he lie about?
