Kamala’s Father Knew Mass Immigration Hurts Black Families. She Should've Listened to Him.
Donald Harris warned that importing tens of millions of low-skilled migrants into the workforce would take jobs from black families. That’s exactly what Kamala did as vice president
The Harris-Biden regime may be the most pro-open borders in U.S. history, but Kamala didn’t learn that from her socialist father.
Donald J. Harris spent some four decades teaching Marxist economics at Stanford University in Palo Alto, California, and is cited as a major influence in shaping Kamala Harris’ own socialist beliefs and policies. Yet when it comes to helping black Americans struggling to find good-paying jobs, Donald publicly opposed mass immigration—while Kamala endorsed it.
Donald Harris co-authored a 1988 pamphlet entitled Black Economic Progress: An Agenda for the 1990s, which critiqued many of the Reagan administration’s policies, including massive defense spending to oppose the Soviet Union. But when it came to immigration, Donald Harris et al. worried that “the current immigration policy, which allows relatively large numbers of low-skilled workers to enter the United States,” places a “burden . . . on low-skilled native-born workers”—particularly black families.
At the same time that the trends in international trade have moved against U.S. workers, U.S. immigration laws have been modified in ways that increase the influx of low-skilled workers, who compete with native-born youths and low-skilled adult workers for low-skilled jobs. . . .
This shift has been a particularly serious problem for blacks, who constitute a high proportion of the low-skilled adult workers [emphasis added].
“Theoretical research supports the argument that the immigration of low-skilled workers is harmful to blacks in the short term,” Harris wrote, “unless offsetting policies are established to protect the living standard of native-born workers.”
When Donald Harris wrote that pamphlet, America was still four years away from implementing NAFTA, the Clinton administration’s massive trade deal that ended up offshoring millions of factory jobs to Mexico, India, China, and other poor countries. A 2021 report by the leftist group Public Citizen found that NAFTA’s globalization hit black and Latino workers hardest—costing black workers 494,000 jobs, particularly in the automative, metals, paper, and beverage industries.
It took another Donald—President Donald Trump—to end “the NAFTA nightmare” by signing the USMCA trade agreement in 2020 that’s returned many of those jobs back to American workers. While the Republican Party embraced the worker-first deal, Democrat politicians opposed it outright or groused that it didn’t do enough to oppose global warming.
Then-Sen. Kamala Harris was one of them—making her just 1 of 10 senators who voted against replacing NAFTA with USMCA, putting global elites and foreigners over American workers.
They’re still at it, too, with open borders socialist Sen. Bernie Sanders holding a rally earlier this week to demand Kamala Harris and Joe Biden roll back USMCA and restore NAFTA.

In 1990, two years after Harris’ pamphlet was published, the U.S. contained 19.8 million immigrants, constituting 7.9% of the total American population.
Fast forward to 2023, and that figure has skyrocketed to 51.6 million and 15.6% of the national population. That doesn’t count the 16 million illegal aliens who’ve entered under “border czar” Kamala Harris since 2021.

America’s foreign-born population grew by 5.1 million people between March 2022 and March 2024, the largest two-year increase ever recorded in our country’s history. If the trend continues, experts warn that we could reach 82.2 million foreign-born residents by 2040—larger than the combined populations of 30 states and D.C.
While this puts massive downward pressure on wages and sucks up jobs, it also devours resources dedicated to social safety net programs. 46% of these migrants are elderly, children, disabled, or otherwise not working—but often qualify for government programs.
On the campaign trail, Kamala Harris has vowed to spend our tax dollars granting illegal aliens Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security coverage, which Restoration News estimates could cost $31,000 per person—or $131,000 per family—each year, even as these programs are threatened with insolvency in coming years.

How Will This Help Black Americans, Anyway?
Black voters have seen this firsthand, which is why they’re fleeing the Democratic Party plantation and backing President Trump in historic numbers not seen since at least 1960.
In response, desperate Democrats pulled former President Barack Obama out of retirement to scold them for thinking for themselves and accuse them of misogyny. The lack of support for Kamala appears “to be more pronounced with the brothers,” he lectured over the weekend. “Part of it makes me think that, well, you just aren’t feeling the idea of having a woman as president, and you’re coming up with other alternatives and other reasons for that.”
Republican Rep. Byron Donalds (FL), who is black, called it “demeaning to suggest that we can’t evaluate a candidate’s track record—especially when Kamala Harris has done more harm than good to Black communities.”
Ex-Ohio State Sen. Nina Turner (D), who is also black, also called Obama’s accusation “patronizing and wrong.” “Why are black men being lectured to? Why are black men being belittled in ways that no other voting group are?”
For Kamala’s part, instead of offering policies that help black men find jobs and buy homes, she’s launched a shameless campaign to buy them off with racist handouts and worthless Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) programs.
Restoration News was the first to expose Kamala’s $25,000 down payment plan as “DEI in disguise” for prioritizing migrants and non-white homebuyers with government giveaways that will do nothing to reduce home prices, lower utility and grocery bills, or encourage new home construction—but will absolutely raise housing inflation by $1 trillion. Worse, it sets the nation on a course for another 2008-style market crash by encouraging low-income individuals to buy a house they can’t afford.
Kamala Harris may have learned her socialism from her father, but it’s a shame she didn’t learn the value of putting Americans first from Donald Harris. Now we’re all suffering the consequences.
