Hegseth Hearing Was a Democrat Gossip Session
America voted for Donald Trump because he is anti-establishment—they want the same for the Secretary of Defense.
America's military is in trouble—recruitment is devastatingly low, and morale is in the tank. The new Defense Secretary will set the tone for rebuilding national defense and America's stance on the world stage. Instead of taking that responsibility seriously, Democrats on the Armed Services Committee turned the confirmation hearing into a gossip session of false accusations from anonymous sources. Republicans stayed focused on policy, spending, and military capabilities. Pete Hegseth stood strong and proved he is the man for the job.
Sen. Tim Kaine (D-VA) despicably smeared Hegseth's young child and made multiple false accusations about him in front of his family. Other Democrats such as Mazie Hirono of Hawaii and Tammy Duckworth of Illinois used their time to go off topic, denigrating President Trump with talking points about mass deportations and abortion.
Mazie Hirono might be the least intelligent Member of Congress, and that's saying something.

This line of questioning is unbecoming of her position as a United States Senator.

Democrats asserted the Department of Defense shouldn't become political while they turned the hearings into partisan political grandstanding. Only a small part of the hours long hearing included actual questions about defense policy.
Not one Democrat denounced disruptions by Code Pink—a front group for the Chinese Communist Party. Police had to carry them out of the room over and over as they interrupted the hearing.

Democrats tried to make the argument Hegseth didn’t have the qualifications to be Defense Secretary because he hasn't been the CEO of a large corporation. Other Democrats cited false, anonymous statements that Hegseth showed up drunk to work even though his colleagues strongly denied those claims.

Republicans Point Out Democrat Hypocrisy
Republican Sen. Markwayne Mullin from Oklahoma called out the Democrats and Sen. Kaine's hypocrisy over unsubstantiated allegations. He pointed out that many Senators have shown up drunk at night to vote, but nobody demanded they step down. He said, "It's so ridiculous that you guys hold yourself as this higher standard and you forget that you've got a big plank in your eye." Kaine never called for accountability for Sec. Lloyd Austin when he went AWOL, not notifying anyone of his incapacitation and hospitalization. Austin kept his job even after 13 Americans lost their lives in the botched Afghanistan withdrawal.
A character witness, former Sen. Norm Coleman (R-MN), introduced Hegseth. He pointed out that Sec. Austin received 97 votes in his confirmation process, but he led the military down the drain. Austin may have looked good on paper and checked the right boxes, but he did a terrible job. Coleman argued that it was time to appoint someone to lead who thinks outside the box.
Sen. Tim Sheehy (R-MT) argued that having a background leading a large corporation doesn’t qualify a candidate for a cabinet position. Sheehy claimed that Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg would never have been hired to run their organizations based on past qualifications. Hegseth showed his capabilities by answering numerous real-world questions related to what soldiers on the front lines face such as equipment needs, rebuilding the Navy, increasing recruitment, and nuclear deterrence. Sen. Eric Schmitt (R-MO) summed up the argument for Hegseth, pointing out that President Trump won the election because America was ready for disruptors instead of The Swamp.
Pete Hegseth is definitely anti-establishment and will restore the military to greatness. He will focus on hiring the best people and providing the best equipment to win wars and to protect the nation—not focusing on who checks the box based on race, gender, or political affiliation. Hegseth said leaders will be chosen based on performance, readiness, and merit—not on race and gender. He will maintain “high and equal” standards not based on the Marxist practice of equity. He wants to "restore continuity of an apolitical military"—not woke social justice agendas. As Hegseth said, it's time to give someone with "dust on their boots" a chance. A strong American military is the best deterrence to war.
