FOLLOW THE MONEY: Convicted Cryptocurrency Felon Views Tammy Baldwin as Attractive Investment

Far-left Sen. Tammy Baldwin (D) accepted a $3,000 contribution from a convicted fraudster closely associated with cryptocurrency criminal Sam Bankman-Fried, filings show. It’s yet more evidence that the Senator from Madison shares the values of Left Coast elites, not everyday Wisconsinites.

Nishad Singh pleaded guilty in February 2023 to charges of wire fraud, commodities fraud, securities fraud, money laundering, and campaign finance violations. He also settled a civil suit, and awaits sentencing and civil penalties due this October. The former California engineer worked as an executive for FTX Trading Ltd., a Bahamas-based cryptocurrency exchange that went bankrupt beginning in November 2022. He was a close partner of the notorious Sam Bankman-Fried, a Stanford, California resident, who founded FTX, and a cryptocurrency trading firm known as Alameda Research.

Earlier this year, the Department of Justice sentenced Bankman-Fried to 25 years in prison and directed him to pay $11 million in forfeiture for his involvement in multiple financial crimes.

SEC records show Singh assigned fraudulent dates to a series of transactions to make it appear as though FTX’s 2021 revenue was $50 million higher than it was, and then proceeded to dupe auditors who may have caught onto the scheme. The Baldwin donor withdrew $6 million from FTX for his personal use on a multimillion-dollar home while he was privy to how FTX customer funds were being misappropriated, according to the SEC.

He faces up to 75 years in prison, although plea bargain deals could reduce his sentence.

Singh’s $3,000 contribution to Baldwin’s Senate campaign in October 2022 is just one of the Democrat’s political donations. He was among the FTX executives who became megadonors to the Democratic Party in the past several years totaling tens of millions of dollars. It also appears Singh was an instrumental figure in what can be described as a “Straw Donation Scheme” on the part of FTX, in which a campaign contributor makes a donation in someone else’s name to avoid limits on individuals or companies.

Singh is on record donating $1.1 million to the LGBTQ Victory Fund Federal PAC. Notably, Baldwin is an openly lesbian woman who’s spent significant time in New York with her significant other, a Wall Street wealth advisor. Since the two are unmarried, Baldwin’s partner, Maria Brisbane, does not have to disclose her assets, calling into question Baldwin’s own potential conflicts of interest.

Who Does Tammy Baldwin Really Represent?

Although Tammy Baldwin claims she is “fighting to do right by Wisconsin families,” the Singh contribution is the latest indicator that she represents far-left political activists in Madison and ultra-rich coastal elites, not the normal people of her state.

Under Tammy Baldwin, Wisconsinites are struggling to pay their bills, save for retirement, or live safely in communities such as Whitewater, a town of 15,000 people overrun by at least 1,000 illegal aliens. How much more can Wisconsin afford to take?
