What can we do to protect voter integrity in elections? Restoration of America founder Doug Truax joins John Solomon and Amanda Head on Just the News: No Noise to reveal the alarming state of America's voter rolls.
“With elections so very close in our country, we want 100% confidence in our election system," Truax says. "If not, that’s a bad outcome.”
Enter the Voter Reference Foundation, our sister organization working to expose voter roll issues to sunlight by buying and publishing them online at VoteRef.com. "That's where you can go to see your state. We have a big map that shows voter roll data of the 34 states we've published - soon to be 50 - that lets citizens search their address and ask tough questions," he explained.
"Why are there 4 people registered at this P.O. box? Why are there a bunch of people registered at this empty lot over here? The goal is to get voters to interact with their county elections officials, the folks who can really start to fix the voter rolls after years of neglect."
A key, if underappreciated, aspect of maintaining secure elections is the threat of ballots flooding into the country from overseas. Congress needs to reform this program, called UOCAVA, Truax explains, without federalizing elections. "We love the Constitution, we don't want a full federal takeover of elections." Instead reform needs to come "state-by-state."
