Does Your Congressman Take Money from Leftist Google and Amazon?
Big Tech has shown its corrupt hand and MAGA has rejected it. So why are so many Republican politicians still taking Big Tech money?
Globalist Google’s motto has long been in practice, though not in word, “Be Evil.” That’s why it’s so disturbing that top politicians from both U.S. political parties take hundreds of thousands of dollars from the PACs of insidious tech giants Google and Amazon.
Big Tech companies are among the biggest congressional lobbying spenders, and in 2024 Big Tech spent more freely than ever trying to buy off politicians. Google, for instance, reportedly spent $12.1 million on lobbying last year, while Amazon topped that with lobbying expenditures of $17.6 million. Google and Amazon also spent millions via their political action committees (PACs) on campaign donations. This spending spree occurred as the Biden administration shored up the tech-government-academia Censorship Industrial Complex. But while Donald Trump is now making major changes to undermine that complex and protect free speech, quite a few politicians from both the Democrat and Republican parties who received Google and Amazon money are now in office.
It is not surprising, though still dangerous, that Democrats should take Big Tech PAC money. After all, for several years now, Democrats from President Joe Biden, to Rep. Ayanna Pressley (D-MA), to Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-MN), and beyond have been increasingly open in their calls for censorship. The Biden-Harris administration was exposed through the Murthy v. Missouri lawsuit, the Twitter Files, and a letter from Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg as actively pressuring Big Tech companies, including Google, to censor Americans’ constitutionally protected free speech. Since leftist Google and its subsidiary YouTube have been suppressing and manipulating online content and interfering in elections egregiously (see this MRC report), it had anti-free speech goals in common with the former Biden administration and its supporters. Woke Amazon’s LinkedIn has also censored and banned many users, including me. Google’s and Amazon’s PACs give money to Democrats because both the tech companies and the politicians have an interest in silencing facts and opinions which do not comport with leftist elites’ approved narratives.
But that Republicans should take Amazon and Google PAC money is more mystifying and, indeed, threatening. The GOP has framed itself as the party of free speech in contrast to the Democrats, and rightly so. Congressional Republicans have for years held hearings, issued letters, and announced investigations into Facebook, Twitter, and the other Big Tech platforms. Donald Trump signed a pro-free speech executive order on his first day in office, and was hailed by his fellow Republicans. All of which is very admirable, but then why are Republicans taking money from Google and Amazon PACs? Could this explain why many of the investigations and hearings about Big Tech don’t get beyond the viral soundbites?
Of course, for senators and congressmen, $5,000 or even $10,000 is only a relatively small portion of the money they raise, but why take any money from companies that oppose one of your most cherished principles? Furthermore, as noted about, Google and Amazon also spend money lobbying politicians once elected—so politicians who received Big Tech money on the campaign trail could be receiving more financial benefits via lobbying. Until and unless Google and Amazon reform their extreme leftist bias, their egregious censorship, and other devious activities, no Republican should take money from their PACs.
First, we can look at the top recipients and some overall funding data for the 2023–2024 campaign season, from Google’s PAC, thanks to OpenSecrets. Incidentally, as interesting background, the treasurer for Google’s PAC was Anne Wall, a former Barack Obama staffer and Google external affairs chief. The total raised by the PAC was $1,902,225, and the total spent was $1,414,672. (It's not clear what happened to the remainder.) Contributions from Google’s PAC to federal candidates were split up by party: 48.51% went to Democrats, 50.47% to Republicans. Therefore, more of the money went to Republicans than Democrats, even as Congress deals with numerous investigations and bills relative to Big Tech.
Among House recipients of Google PAC money, Republicans received $322,000 or 51.64%, while Democrats received somewhat less at $301,566 or 48.36%, per OpenSecrets. In the Senate, however, Democrats garnered more money at $56,000, or 52.83% of Google PAC donations, while Republicans received $50,000, or 47.17%.
The top ten recipients of Google PAC money in the House of Representatives were Katherine Clark (D-MA)—$10,000; Tom Emmer (R-MN)—$10,000; Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA)—$10,000; Zoe Lofgren (D-CA)—$10,000; Frank Pallone Jr. (D-NJ)—$10,000; Brett Guthrie (R-KY)—$8,000; Bob Latta (R-OH)—$7,500; Steve Scalise (R-LA)—$7,500; Jason Smith (R-MO)—$7,500; and Ashley Hinson (R-IA)—$7,000. Other top recipients include $5,500 for Monica De La Cruz (R-TX) and $5,000 for Pete Aguilar (D-CA).
In the Senate, the top ten Google PAC money recipients were John Curtis (R-UT)—$10,000; Deb Fischer (R-NE)—$8,500; Jacky Rosen (D-NV)—$8,000; Tim Kaine (D-VA)—$7,500; Angus King (I-ME)—$7,500; Pete Ricketts (R-NE)—$7,500; Jon Tester (D-MT)—$7,000; Tammy Baldwin (D-WI)—$6,000; Martin Heinrich (D-NM)—$6,000; and John Barrasso (R-WY)—$5,000.
Other top recipients included Bob Casey (D-PA)—$5,000; Sherrod Brown (D-OH)—$5,000; Roger Wicker (R-MS)—$5,000; Mike Crapo (R-ID)—$2,500; James Lankford (R-OK)—$2,500; and Mark Warner (D-VA)—$2,500.
If you see your representative or senator on the above list, give him a call or email and ask why he’s taking money from an election-interfering, radical leftist, racist, terrorist-empathizing, pro-Communist Chinese, anti-American company like Google.
But Google isn’t the only insidious Big Tech company schmoozing politicians. Amazon’s PAC, according to OpenSecrets, raised a total of $1,583,307 and spent a total of $1,461,053, as of Dec. 31, 2024. Of this amount, $799,000 was given by Amazon’s PAC to federal candidates, 50.56% of which went to Democrats and 49.44% to Republicans. The PAC’s treasurer was Amazon executive Brian Huseman, who formerly worked for the Federal Trade Commission and Justice Department, and who under Biden served on the Chamber of Commerce’s Global Connect Committee. Huseman was featured and lauded by the George Soros-funded Aspen Institute for his membership on the Blueprint Virginia 2030 Steering Committee. The year 2030 is used by proponents of the United Nations’ globalist 2030 Agenda, which aims to impoverish first world citizens and trample their rights under the guise of fighting a fake climate crisis.
Most of the Amazon PAC federal candidate donations went to House candidates, with Republicans receiving more than Democrats, just as with Google. The top ten Amazon PAC recipients were Guy Reschenthaler (R-PA)—$12,500; Suzan DelBene (D-WA)—$10,000; Tom Emmer (R-MN)—$10,000; Virginia Foxx (R-NC)—$10,000; Sam Graves (R-MO)—$10,000; French Hill (R-AR)—$10,000; Richard Hudson (R-NC)—$10,000; Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA)—$10,000; Mike D Rogers (R-AL)—$10,000; and Steve Scalise (R-LA)—$10,000. Other top recipients include $10,000 to Elise Stefanik (R-NY) and $8,000 to Zoe Lofgren (D-CA).
Again mirroring Google PAC donations, Senate Democrats received more money overall from Amazon PAC than Senate Republicans, but the top ten recipients include some Republicans too: John Barrasso (R-WY)—$10,000, Tim Kaine (D-VA)—$10,000, Jon Tester (D-MT)—$10,000, Martin Heinrich (D-NM)—$7,500, Roger Wicker (R-MS)—$7,500, Deb Fischer (R-NE)—$6,500, Tammy Baldwin (D-WI)—$5,000, Marsha Blackburn (R-TN)—$5,000; Katie Britt (R-AL)—$5,000, and Bob Casey (D-PA)—$5,000. Other top recipients include $2,500 to Ruben Gallego (D-AZ) and $2,500 to Bill Cassidy (R-LA).
Why would any Republican take money from LGBTQ-worshipping, Covid-censoring, Washington Post-tied Amazon?
Don’t be fooled by the Google and Amazon CEOs attending Trump’s inauguration, their companies are still as anti-free speech and leftist as ever. We need Big Tech money out of politics, not politicians beholden to companies that stand for everything most injurious to We the People.
