District Watch: Exposing the Radical Takeover of America’s Schools

Government schools across the nation are failing to educate children—and undermining the vital role of parents in raising the next generation.
Restoration News' newest project, District Watch, exposes those responsible. We're shining a light on school district policies that put parents in the dark—and calling out the ideologues responsible.
We're going state-by-state and district-by-district to root out the evil lurking behind schoolhouse doors. We've uncovered destructive policies—in small towns and big cities alike—that harm children. Such as policies encouraging children to undergo "social gender identity" transitioning at school without the knowledge of parents. Counselors are providing mental health therapy to children without asking parents. Teachers are sexualizing children as young as kindergarten.
These policies are deliberately crafted by far-left school board officials and employees, most with ties to the teachers’ unions, working to promote a radical agenda instead of improving schools.
Take Zyahna Bryant, a far-left "fat liberation" and Black Lives Matter activist who made national news after pushing a race hoax at the University of Virginia. Bryant falsely accused a white student, Morgan Bettinger, of making racist comments then demanded she face discipline—and university faculty obeyed. Bettinger fought back with a First Amendment lawsuit that the university settled out of court after investigations exposed the truth.
But leftists often fail up. The Dove Beauty company quickly hired Bryant as an ambassador for their "fat liberation campaign" to glamorize obesity.

Bryant is also an advocate of reparations for young black youth leaders and called American policing "a pillar of white supremacy." Yet in November 2025, she was elected to the Charlottesville City School Board in Virginia and is now one of seven board members responsible for the education of thousands of students in public schools.
In Wisconsin, the Eau Claire Area School District (ECASD) which serves around 10,000 students, pushes narratives of white privilege and offers “gender support plans.” ECASD emphasizes hiring based on race saying they “will seek out and increase hiring of a diverse staff, including active recruitment of underrepresented groups and more equitable hiring practices, so that the diversity in our district staff and leadership is reflective of the diversity of the students we serve.”
Several ECASD School Board members, like Tim Norden, have publicly stated they support keeping student gender identity transition secrets from parents.
Assistant Superintendent of Strategy for the Madison Metropolitan School District in Wisconsin, Cindy Green, believed that her district had too many resources that were “uplifting whiteness” and called for “anti-racism” curriculum. She also pushed “equitable” grading practices that inflated achievement by not permitting teachers to give zeroes for work not done.

Melinda Manning is a school board member in Chapel Hill Carrboro City Schools, North Carolina. Her Facebook bio reads: “Nasty woman who likes civility, dismantling the patriarchy, yoga, real books, tea, and buying local.” She makes posts attacking President Trump, vows to protect illegal aliens from ICE, and proclaims that she will “aid and abet abortion.” Manning is one of seven governing members responsible for the policies and curriculum for over 11,000 students.
These are just a few of examples of dangerous leaders that fly under the radar because conservatives haven't taken school board races seriously enough. That's why we launched District Watch: To expose people like these state-by-state, beginning with Wisconsin, North Carolina, and Virginia—where Democrats have tried many of their worst policies.
