Dear Arizona: If You Liked the Last 4 Years of Bidenflation, You’ll Love the Next 4 Under Kamala

Arizona is tied for the worst in the nation for cumulative inflation since Trump left office

It costs Arizona families nearly $1,200 more each month to buy the same household necessities now compared with Jan. 2021, the month President Donald Trump left office, making the state among the most affected in the nation from out-of-control government spending and 1.8 percentage points higher than the nation overall.

Since 2021, the average Arizona household has spent just under $34,000 more for the same goods and services just due to inflation.

As Kamala Harris once put it, “It’s called Bidenomics, and it’s working.”

Heartache By the Numbers

Nationally, Americans’ credit card debt has risen by 46.7 percent since early 2021 as families go into debt to pay for groceries and other essentials, reaching a new all-time high. For Arizonans, average credit card balances rose by 12.9 percent between 2022 and 2023, one of the fastest increases nationwide and nearly twice that of states like Kansas and Iowa.

On average, Arizonans spend $153 more each month on food, totaling $4,131 extra since Jan. 2021.

Electricity and other utilities cost $131 more per month for a total of $5,742 extra since then. For gas, Arizonans are spending another $315 each month to fill their cars—or a whopping $11,254 more since Trump left office.

But for many the hardest-hitting price hike is housing. Compared with Jan. 2021, Arizonans pay $282 more per month on mortgages or rent for a total of $6,942.

The median home price has risen statewide by a staggering 32.4 percent—from $334,300 to $442,900 last month. At the same time, growth in the number of homes for sale is anemic, down 21.3 percent since Jan. 2021. It’s worst in Maricopa County, predictably, where median home prices are up by 33.9 percent, from $358,250 to $479,990.

Not great news for would-be homebuyers. And Kamala’s “bold” plan to provide $25,000 down payments to prospective buyers won’t help, since it incentivizes sellers to raise prices by $25,000 and pass the cost on to the government—and you, the taxpayer.

With so much heartache and misery over the past 4 years, it’s no wonder Americans are scratching their heads in confusion at the Harris campaign’s promise to “not go back”—as if she isn’t the incumbent candidate with a proven record of failure. Particularly when her campaign boasts the same, copy-pasted policies as Joe “Bidenflation” Biden, something even her supporters are embarrassed by.

So which path is it, Arizona? Forward with Trump—or more of the same mess?
