Child Migrant Centers Are Out of Control in North Carolina. Josh Stein Will Only Encourage More

With record numbers of unaccompanied minors crossing illegally into the United States, the increased abuse of children is turning North Carolina into a border state.

Parents beware—New York City’s migrant crisis is quickly spreading to North Carolina, thanks to Joe Biden’s out-of-control open borders policies.

In June 2023, New York spent just under $6 million on “people seeking asylum.” In February 2024, the city spent over $688 million housing, feeding, and clothing illegal aliens—an 11,366 percent increase in 8 months! When will New Yorkers open their eyes and admit what this actually is—an illegal invasion enabled and encouraged by the Biden Democrats?

Yet Josh Stein, North Carolina’s current Attorney General and Democrat gubernatorial nominee in 2024, recently said that Biden “is our best chance to move this country forward.”

Does Stein approve of Biden’s border policies that dump tens of thousands of illegal aliens into his state, encourages violence against children, and opens the door to vicious gang members?

Contrast that with Lieutenant Gov. and Republican gubernatorial nominee Mark Robinson, whose communications director told Restoration News: “This is just another example of the very real human cost of President Biden’s massive border crisis. According to the U.S. Customs and Border Patrol, since President Biden took office, nearly 9 million illegal immigrants have crossed over the border—including dangerous drugs like fentanyl and violent criminals.

“Enough is enough. The Democrats have failed every step of the way and it is time to elect Republicans at every level up and down the ballot who will stand with law enforcement, stop the tide of illegal immigrants flowing over the border, and make our streets safer,” he added.

Children are suffering the most. A 2023 Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) report revealed 1,647 minors identified as victims of child exploitation, and those are just the ones that were detected with limited resources.

At the same time, New York City added 30,000 new “migrant” students in the 2023–24 school year, causing American students to be kicked out of their school building to learn virtually so illegal aliens could be housed in their school during bad weather.

It isn’t just New York that has seen an influx of illegal alien students creating a burden on schools.

In 2021, North Carolina had 3,000 illegal alien high school graduates. From 1990 to 2021, neighboring Georgia saw a 16 percent increase in students from immigrant households, with a majority coming from Mexico. In 2023, an estimated 3,000 “undocumented” high school students enrolled in Georgia public schools.

Taxpayers and U.S. citizens never voted to pay for this, but they are—and don’t have the option to refuse public services to those who come to the United States illegally.

The Supreme Court ruled in Plyer v. Doe (1982) that primary and secondary public schools may not deny an education to any child based upon immigration status. This decision placed a huge unfunded mandate on localities since the ruling was not followed by funding from the federal government.

Biden exacerbates the problem by encouraging the illegal invasion that is placing extreme burdens on communities and schools.

Unaccompanied Minors Flood Into North Carolina

A Rand Corporation study found that 75 percent of illegal immigrant children live in just 10 states:  Georgia, North Carolina, California, Texas, Florida, New York, Virginia, Maryland, New Jersey, and Louisiana.

These figures are just from 2020, before Biden open the border up completely, and don’t include those crossing the border undetected.

Schools already struggle to employ enough teachers to keep class sizes manageable. It is estimated that states like Georgia and North Carolina would have been required to hire an extra 1,400 teachers and support staff in 2020 to maintain student-teacher ratios while keeping up with the illegal alien influx.

Given the national teacher shortage, sustaining reasonable class sizes is unlikely. Schools in North Carolina are failing with only 32 percent of fourth grade students proficient in reading. Yet Biden continues to flood the state with more illegal aliens.

In the 2024 Republican primary, 41 percent of North Carolina voters indicated that immigration was their top concern. Perhaps it’s because North Carolina has enticed illegal aliens into the state with the offer of top-notch education services specifically tailored for them.

Guilford County has opened 2 “newcomer” schools that provide enrollment to “immigrants and refugee children,” segregating them from non-immigrant children: Sylvia Mendez Newcomer School in High Point and Doris Henderson Newcomer School in Greensboro. These schools provide small class sizes with student to teacher ratio at 9:1 but in other schools in Guilford County the average is 15:1.

Perhaps the latest “newcomer” school built in 2023 in Guilford County was a part of the Biden Democrats’ plan to place 800 illegal aliens in the city. At a cost to taxpayers of $50 million, the Greensboro Influx Care Facility opened March 15 and will house 800 “unaccompanied minors” ages 13–17 for “two-three weeks” until family members can be identified.

So what happens when family members cannot be located for these children? They get exploited.

Child Exploitation

On Biden’s watch, more than 370,000 unaccompanied children have crossed the border illegally. Whistleblowers report that many of these children are pushed into forced labor to pay off the cartels who brought them to the border. A group of Republican Senators demanded answers regarding the sexual abuse of little girls at the border, having been told about “rape trees.” Reportedly, cartels and smugglers will rape young girls and throw their undergarments into trees as a sign of what they have done—taunting law enforcement whose hands are tied by the Biden administration.

MS-13 gang members—whose motto is “kill, rape, control”—flow across the border as “unaccompanied minors.” In 2022, a young woman in Maryland was raped, stabbed and murdered by a 16-year-old MS-13 gang member who had been welcomed into the United States as an unaccompanied minor just three months prior to the vicious murder.

In El Salvador, the term adult is defined as someone who has reached puberty. In Honduras, the age of criminal responsibility is 12. These so-called minors crossing the border are considered adults in their own nations, and some are hardened criminals. Yet they are treated as innocent victims when they come to America. The 16-year-old Salvadoran murderer was previously arrested for gang association in his country but wasn’t vetted as he crossed the border because he was a “minor.”

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) estimates that in 2023, 40 percent of the MS-13 gang members they arrest come into the United States as unaccompanied minors. Last year, a whistleblower who worked with the Department of Health and Human Services at a migrant intake site revealed to congress details about the “sponsors” who take unaccompanied minors when a family member cannot be identified. Tara Rodas testified:

I thought I was going to help place children in loving homes. Instead, I discovered that children are being trafficked through a sophisticated network that begins with recruiting in their home country, smuggled to the U.S. border, and ends when [Office of Refugee Resettlement] delivers a child to a sponsor — some sponsors are criminals and traffickers and members of Transnational Criminal Organizations. Some sponsors view children as commodities and assets to be used for earning income — this is why we are witnessing an explosion of labor trafficking.

Recent proof of the dangers of sponsors: On March 4, a 42-year-old illegal alien from Mexico—Isauro Cruz—was arrested in Virginia for kidnapping and having sex with a minor. The child was an unaccompanied minor from Honduras who had been placed by Biden officials with a sponsor who was the girlfriend of Cruz. Law enforcement believes the minor could be a trafficking victim.

Who Will Keep North Carolina Families Safe?

Biden has the power to immediately stop the invasion at the border, yet he refuses to. Don’t expect his lackey, Josh Stein, to crack down on illegal alien crime if he wins the race for governor this November.

The answer is clear: Fund the wall and demand that those who enter illegally be immediately arrested and deported. The safety of the nation is at stake.
