Biden’s EV Madness Steals Money From Medicare, and Voters Hate It

Biden leaves voters furious when they find out savings from Medicare helps with EV subsidies instead of going to lower drug prices.

News flash. The Biden administration has taken savings from the Medicare program and funneled it to electric vehicle (EV) subsidies instead of to its intended target, lower drug costs. Naturally, this information has not made it to the nightly news. When voters find out, they consistently respond to pollsters with some of the most negative reactions one can find in any poll.

We saw the first inklings of voter reactions to this Ponzi scheme in a poll conducted in Arizona:

The news of EV and green energy subsidies flew under the radar until a poll conducted in Arizona alerted voters there to the scheme. Fully three-quarters of Arizona voters polled (76 percent) said they didn’t know the Biden administration diverted money from Medicare “savings” to subsidize green projects, and by an 80-10 margin, respondents strongly opposed such a tactic. 

According to Americans for Tax Reform (ATR), the misbegotten Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) of 2022 served as little more than the implementation of the Green New Deal. Only a slick marketing campaign gave Americans the misguided notion that it would reduce inflation. In fact, it has fueled skyrocketing increases in the cost of goods and services, as runaway federal spending has devalued the dollar. ATR reported the IRA diverted $280 billion from Medicare’s prescription drug provisions to Biden’s pet climate initiatives—instead of lowering prescription drug costs for seniors.

One can imagine elderly voters not being terribly fond of this news.

Arizona wasn’t the only state where voters expressed disgust with this idea. Similar polling results occurred in Michigan, Georgia, and Wisconsin. One suspects similar responses would result wherever polling occurred. At least three-quarters of voters detest the idea of stealing drug savings from Medicare to subsidize . . .  well, anything, but especially EVs and green energy.

Seniors Getting the Shaft for EVs

Steve Cortes, President of the League of American Workers, wrote a January op-ed piece for Newsweek about stealing drug savings for EVs. Cortes noted that seniors on fixed incomes have really suffered under Bidenomics:

Consider how difficult life becomes financially for so many seniors on modest fixed incomes, especially the one in seven Americans over the age of 65 who rely solely on Social Security payments to support themselves. These seniors struggle to afford the necessities of life. A 2022 Senior Citizens League survey found that 45 percent of America’s elderly used charitable food banks or applied for SNAP, the program commonly known as government food stamps. That sad statistic has more than doubled since Biden took office.

Quoting the Wall Street Journal, Cortes says Medicare will only keep about 15% of the savings for some “relatively inexpensive new benefits,” while the rest goes to pay for the Biden administration’s green initiatives. Half of Medicare enrollees make less than $30,000 per year, according to the report, while the average senior has around $6,500 in annual out-of-pocket health costs.

Damn the Poll Torpedoes, Full Steam Ahead!

The news from the Biden green cabal gets even worse. The “green” transition and “decarbonization” of energy rely on Chinese technology and market dominance. So much so, the mandates actually subsidize Chinese EV factories in Mexico. The Biden administration put restrictions on Chinese companies getting subsidies, so instead they’ve decided to build their plants in Mexico:

Chinese EV manufacturers have plans to open three new factories in Mexico. Not only will that expand China’s global dominance of the EV market, but it could also allow Chinese EVs to qualify for the $7,500 incentives to U.S. taxpayers on vehicles manufactured in Mexico.

It doesn’t end at just the private markets. The green zealots in the administration have also pushed billions into buying EVs for the government. Case in point: electric school buses for local districts across America:

The EPA released a report on their “Clean School Bus Program” which has shelled out $1.84 billion of your hard-earned tax dollars to fund nearly 4,900 electric school buses and charging stations in 642 school districts nationwide.

Under Biden’s misnamed Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, taxpayers will ultimately dole out $5 billion over five years to replace diesel buses with what the government calls Zero Emissions (ZE) vehicles—all in pursuit of the Left’s global warming agenda.

These buses come with a price four times as high as a standard diesel school bus—up to $420,000 each. So along with range anxiety, hoping your kids get home before the battery dies, you’ll also have to face sticker shock as your district spends the money on these things. On top of that, each charging station costs another $50k. That’s assuming your local grid has the capacity to charge these things.

These things are such a deal that some districts are actually turning down the offer from the Biden administration. Districts in Wisconsin, for instance, turned down the federal incentives.

Basic Economics Won’t Stop Biden From Stealing Medicare Funds For EV Subsidies

As Victoria Manning noted for Restoration News, rural districts will never adopt electric buses if their range doesn’t improve. That would require new generations of technology to advance from today’s limited range.

And let’s be honest here. The EV subsidies have gone almost exclusively to wealthy elites in the blue coastal areas who want to feel better about their impact on Mother Earth. The average car buyer simply can’t afford a luxury vehicle with limited range and a refueling price tag outside their monthly budget.

So, we’ve decided to steal money from old folks on fixed incomes who rely on public assistance. This goes to pay for Teslas for Bay Area tech bros, and electric school buses nobody wants. Then Biden chalks it up as a win for the climate.

But none of that matters to Joe Biden. Somehow he thinks bowing to the radical green cultists to his left flank will ensure his reelection. That’s the only goal he really cares about achieving.
