Anti-Christian REALTOR's Union Attacks Pastors
REALTOR's union labels Christian teachings "hate speech." Is your agent a union member?
Christians across the nation have been sanctioned by the National Association of REALTORs (NAR) for their religious beliefs. The latest victim is a Virginia pastor, who was found guilty of "hate speech." The NAR has become a leftist social justice advocacy organization promoting drag queen shows and attacking religious freedom.
It wasn't until Pastor Wilson Fauber, a REALTOR, ran for political office that his views became a problem to the REALTOR's union. In 2015, Fauber posted a statement on social media that read, "The Bible is clear that homosexuality. . . is an abomination to God. It is sin, and sin separates us from God"—a reference from Leviticus. Nearly 10 years later in 2024, when Fauber ran for Staunton City Council, two REALTORs filed a complaint with the Virginia Association of REALTORs (VAR) accusing him of hate speech for his 2015 post. The VAR found Fauber guilty for sharing his Biblical view that marriage should be between a man and a woman.
Ironically, the Virginia constitution still declares marriage may only be between a man and a woman. Although a Supreme Court decision is used as an overruling factor, and the state permits same-sex unions.
In 2020, the NAR adopted rules against so-called "hate speech." NAR used that provision against Pastor Fauber, retroactively, for his 2015 comment. Fauber didn't relinquish his rights to freedom of speech and religion simply because the NAR adopted a "code."
Not only did the VAR uphold the guilty verdict on appeal, but they also added a charge against Fauber for publicly sharing the ethics complaint against him. “This is an attack not only on my Christian faith, but on every REALTOR who wishes to express their conscientious or faith-based opinions about important moral issues," said Fauber. He says the NAR has gone woke—and he's fighting back.
Fauber's attorney, Michael Sylvester of the Founding Freedoms Law Center, told Restoration News they have exhausted their appeals with the VAR. They've begun evaluating the next step—legal action in the form of a lawsuit.

Attacking the First Amendment and Funding Drag Queens?
What's the difference between a REALTOR and a real estate agent? Anyone licensed to sell homes is considered a real estate agent. To be a REALTOR one must join their union, the National Association of REALTORs (NAR), and pay annual dues. The NAR enforces the unjust so-called Code of Ethics on its members. REALTORs were once esteemed because they placed a high bar on moral principals in real estate transactions. But that has changed. Now the NAR focuses on woke social justice initiatives and silencing Christians.
In 2020, the NAR adopted a rule against using harassing speech, hate speech, epithets, or slurs based on race, color, religion, sex, disability, familial status, national origin, sexual orientation, or gender identity. Not only did NAR apply this provision to work-related business but also to the personal lives of REALTORs. In 2021 they explained the change is to:
. . . make it clear to members and associations alike that discriminatory speech against protected classes is a violation of the Code of Ethics and is subject to appropriate disciplinary action, even if that discriminatory speech occurs outside a real-estate-related activity or transaction.”
The NAR's definition of discriminatory speech includes Biblical tenants of faith. In other words, if a REALTOR attends a church that preaches the Biblical view of marriage and they repeat that faith view, NAR will sanction them.
On the other side of the country in Montana, the NAR hauled Pastor Brandon Huber before a REALTOR ethics panel in 2021 and charged him with homophobic hate speech. His "crime?" Withdrawing his church from a food assistance program that promoted Pride Week. Huber claimed it was "contrary to the church's teachings," but the REALTOR's association doesn't care about religious freedom. They found him guilty of a hate speech violation and ordered him to pay a $5,000 fine and complete diversity training. Huber's attorney claimed the NAR's ethics code, "is intended to purge Christians from the real estate business."
So much for Freedom of Religion in the REALTOR world.
REALTORs Gone Woke
The NAR encourages state associations to adopt diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programs. They even provide grants to state and local organizations to create DEI committees and "overcome unconscious biases." One of the biases they seek to overcome is against "gender identity"—they don't believe there are only two genders.
While NAR labels Christians as haters, they show their love for drag queens. In November 2024, a drag queen show in Charlottesville, Virginia was funded by the NARs' fair housing grant. An Austin, Texas REALTOR who calls himself "Ruby Dickulous" says drag queens and REALTORs have a lot in common, "to sell a house you gotta throw some paint on it, you gotta landscape, and you gotta hide your junk." His trans stand-up comedy routines are X-rated and disgusting. Yet REALTOR's associations haven't hauled him before an ethics panel. That seems only to happen to Christians.
I was a REALTOR in 2020 when the new so-called ethics rules were adopted, and I was concerned that it would lead to attacks on Christians. I was right. While I'm still a licensed real estate agent, I'm no longer a part of the woke REALTOR's union. Christian REALTORs need to demand change from the NAR's attacks on people of faith, or they need to leave in droves. Maybe if clients refuse to work with agents who are members of the REALTOR's union, the free market will resolve the problem and get rid of the union altogether.
