$83 Million in Taxpayer Handouts to LGBT Groups Under Joe Biden
Who put the perverts in charge, anyway?
Gay and transgender groups, many of them created to lobby for radical LGBT laws, have pulled in at least $83 million from the Biden administration according to public filings—and that figure’s rising.
Restoration News has traced $82.9 million in government grants to dozens of far-left LGBT organizations concentrated in California, New York, and Massachusetts beginning in early 2021, when Biden took office. While some of these are health clinics or boutique business groups, like the Utah Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce, all push transgender ideology on a public increasingly sick of the hypersexualized Left.
Taxpayers paid more than $37 million to the Los Angeles LGBT Center, for instance, which promotes “trans pride forever” at an annual June Trans Town Hall, which flaunts Los Angeles’ “trans, gender nonconforming, and intersex community” and awards activists who “successfully advocated against anti-LGBTQ+ policies in the conservative town of Temecula, [California],” labeling the town “oppressor[s].”
That’s on top of the center’s Transgender “Health” Program, which offers hormone therapy, “trans-sensitive pap smears,” and surgical care for “transitioning” to the opposite gender. The group’s website borders on explicit, with countless references to HIV treatment and STI testing.
The Los Angeles LGBT Center also lobbies the California legislature to force health insurers to cover HIV and STI testing, mandate government funding for AIDS drugs, and expand “teen access to condoms in schools.” How much of that came from American taxpayers?

Similarly, the Norfolk, Virginia-based LGBT Life Center—which has received $8 million from Biden—provides children with “acceptance commitment therapy” to make LGBTQ+ students “feel seen, heard, valued, and accepted.” Other services included free HIV and STI testing and lectures for student groups age Kindergarten–12th grade on “gender diversity,” “people & pronouns,” gender affirmation,” and “dissect[ing] marginalization and privilege” for LGBTQ+ “allies.”
It also provides free mail-order condoms (in multiple flavors!) “in discreet packaging” across southeastern Virginia to anyone who asks, apparently including children.
Gay Men’s Health Crisis (GMHC) is the nation’s oldest AIDS advocacy group which aims to “end HIV stigma.” But like all leftist groups, it has an aggressive lobbying division for pushing bills through the New York legislature to stop “inequities experienced by New Yorkers living with or affected by HIV and AIDS,” including a recent bill forcing insurers to provide coverage for individuals using pre-exposure prophylaxis drugs—a pill meant to reduce the risk of HIV transmission—while still having sex rather than abstaining from sex with AIDS victims.
To date, GMHC has raked in nearly $13 million from the Biden administration.
Two more groups with 6-figure grants apiece are the National Center for Lesbian Rights and National Center for Transgender Equity, both of which push “social justice” and even open borders policies on the nation.
The former lobbies against conversion therapy practices with its #BornPerfect campaign and helps thousands of LGBTQ illegal aliens obtain asylum in the United States. Most infamously, it pushed Biden to gut Title IX protections for women in schools by transforming it into a totalitarian LGBTQ policy—forcing local schools to allow transgender students to use whichever bathrooms and locker rooms they like and barring teachers from “misgender[ing] transgender students.”
The National Center for Transgender Equity similarly provides pro bono legal services to “expand access to medical care for trans people” and force employers to provide them with healthcare coverage for gender transitioning services.
If it isn’t clear, Joe Biden isn’t really in charge of the federal government; the radical Left is. Every proposals these activists manufacture ends up as Biden administration policy—can you imagine another 4 years of it?
